Is college better than secondary school?

Technically, I'm not in secondary school but a "college" (typical colleges are called univeristies). I'm repeating to get my HS diploma.

I was going not because I particularly cared about getting a HS diploma but to make friends and get contacts for drugs. It seems though that most people have their social circle established.

You might think that it's not a good place to make friends because everyone there wants to study but in reality, many aren't that serious about it (from what they say). I don't judge since I feel the same way.

If I fail this time, I'll just overdose on heroin.

I didn't enjoy university that much. Just had to get through it to get the degree at the end.

Definitely better than high school though - you have ten times more freedom and choice when it comes to which idiots you have to sit next to in class (haha), and you're treated with more respect by teachers.

Well, you're certainly freer in university, but it doesn't translate to feeling better. And you're treated like a piece of shit, but in a way that doesn't feel as bad since you're also treating everyone else like a piece of shit.

Otherwise, it's the same as high school. Also, being free to skip all your classes in a 0% attendance college is bad for wanting to live.

Are you in the UK? In the US college/university is much better, but it may be different in the UK.

Well, I was bullied from the 3rd grade to my sophomore year of high school. (The last two years of high school were not bad, on the whole, even though I first began to feel seriously suicidal then.) I preferred college/university, even if I did get stressed out, depressed and even suicidal at times. At least nobody else was ridiculing me for being bookish, fat, bespectacled and with an excessively formal vocabulary.

For me, the good thing about college isn't the fact that you stop being insulted, but that everyone is insulted for something. So there's some form of crablike equality.

Secondary school had more structure. You had to be there. College gives you freedom. However there's always a chance, you take too much advantage, of that freedom.

If you're living in the UK college isn't the be all and end all. You have apprenticeships, Foundation degrees, home study courses etc. You just have to be in the right frame of mind to study. When you force yourself, you're more likely to fail.

College is better in pretty much every way in my experience. the freedom,and the fact that you're less likely to deal with bullies. (that's my experience however,I don't encounter bullies anymore. for some people,this sadly may not be the case.)

However,you're still required to study to pass,and that's the experience killer for me,and why I can't really truly enjoy college.

For me, I don't need to study to pass. However, passing isn't enough for someone in my financial situation.
