I've been labelled with the diagnosis of
< Schizotypal personality "disorder" >, but i know that is somewhat similar to Schizoid.
Sorry if it's not an answer
I find it similar to Schizoid, but you are right and it's not the same.
I wanted to know if more people had my diagnostic.
Don't be sorry. I'm very happy that someone answered :-) I didn't expect any answer.

Try not to buy into the labeling by the DSM. I could fit into probably many of the diagnoses and that's the problem. Many people do have some maladjustment somewhere and symptoms, suffering that goes with it. They now label u as something is wrong with u if can't adjust to a sick society lol! I felt like when I fit into the borderline personality disorder criteria, it actually made me feel more hopeless and like now I have an excuse to give up on myself.

Even my therapists doesn't want to use labels, they told me. But, sometimes I feel better to know who I am, and in what matters I am different. It helps me to avoid feeling failed in matters about who am I. After years and years, I'm 43, I could think I tried to change. I failed and I think instead of continue of feeling, bad, accept.

I thought for sure I had schizoid personality disorder, but my last therapist, whom I liked and respected, thought I didn't have any personality disorder at all. He wasn't a fan of DSM diagnostics either and I agree they can be misleading, especially if you try to self-diagnose. I do understand the appeal of wanting a specific diagnosis though because its like a clear, concise explanation for a complex set of problems.

How is your life? Do you have work? girlfriend? friends? Your parents are separated or felt they were cold with you?
I don't have work, I have known and made love with 3 different women in my whole life. And currently I'm not in contact with any friend. I had 5 friends when I was in high-school, but not now.
|>"How is your life?"
Having an active account on this forum is an answer in itself, I suppose.
|>"Do you have work?" (...do you mean "a job"?)
Alas, no, and I have never had.
|>"girlfriend?"
I am sterile, virgin, and my heart belongs to eternal rest and never available, therefore no.
|>"friends?"
I prefer to stay alone.
|>"Your parents are separated or felt they were cold with you?"
They have always been... neutral towards me.

Just Finding out that I have Schizoid personality disorder, SPD added to my list, can't believe I've never heard ofthis before.
I have few people that I talk with depending on the occasion {work, school...} , but I don't have any friends....and I thought this was normal...not having a close relationship.
Even work has been very stressful because It makes me meet up with different people at times, I spend 95% of my free time at home. I just wish I can finally find a peaceful way to disappear because I can't do this anymore.
