No hell is a fairytale, but it took me a while to get used to that idea because I was also brought up Catholic.

There is no evidence of such a hell existing. The thing that terrifies me is this life, as there is unlimited potential for suffering. I believe there is nothing after this, death is true peace.

Well according to the Islamic version of hell: Eternal fire, spiky and nasty fruits as food, demons repeatedly stabbing and tearing sinners flesh with super painful magical weapons, etc.

Oh and if you're a (female) whore the demons are gonna sexually abuse the shit out of you, repeatedly, forever.

They sell these books with pictures to kindergartens in my country.

CTB is just a short cut to where everybody is going.
If you see it that way, why be afraid of the inevitable ?

Unless you think that you may go to hell because you choose to ctb and not to let death happens by itself .
Which is maybe more a Buddhist point of view than catholic... I was brought up Buddhist, so that scared me for a while, but I don't believe in any "after life" stuff anymore.

With that said, nobody really knows.
Like a famous comedian said : "Is there life after death ? Only Jesus could answer this question... Unfortunately, he's dead."

You really shouldn't worry about that. But if you want to be afraid of hell then that fear itself is real enough for you.
Personally I think heaven and hell are the same thing those people who go out at night and throw crystals and salt around believe in.

My family is muslim, but I am not due to the abusive way my parents tried to force Islam on me (thankful for that now) and the way I view religions is that they are all just forms of controlling people. They scare people with hell, promise people heaven, and then once they have you brainwashed they can make you follow whatever beliefs they want. Telling you that CTB will send you to hell is just one of those controlling beliefs.

It enrages me the ways religious people will brainwash others like this. They have no care for people's liberties or freedoms, they want to control everything and they will manipulate and deceive to achieve their goals. I mean, why should children have to worry about such things? Why teach to children in the first place, if its not to abuse their vulnerability?

Ahhh finally someone who comes from the same background as me. These born-atheists will never understand how freaking hard it is to detox your brain from all the religious indoctrination and trauma you grew up with.

Worse is when liberal Muslims who live in the western world try to tell you that Islam is peaceful. No, your parents are just not following the quran. It's literally encouraged in islam to beat 7 year olds if they don't want to pray 5 times a day.
