I've been using a twisted sheet thrown over a door and fastened to a doorknob but I can't really get it to work out.
What is the garrote technique?Same problem here. I had better luck with the garrote technique and lost consciousness briefly but still woke up after what seemed like a few minutes at most. As far as I can tell the problem has to do with compressing the jugular veins (causing the pain and pressure) and not just the carotid arteries. It's clear where the carotids are from the palpable pulse, but I can't get the hang of compressing them alone. No pun intended, lol.
I had an image at one time but can't find it quickly. Basically it's not hanging but still asphyxiation. You use a ligature (flexible, not too stretchy, and kind of soft for comfort) wrapped around your neck and twisted, and pass a rod (a wooden spoon works well) through the twist or loop and then spin the rod over and over to tighten the ligature. With the right size rod it won't come untwisted on its own even if you pass out because the end will catch against your head or shoulder. So you can manually tighten it to the point of unconsciousness and then if all goes well it will stay in place until death occurs. What is the garrote technique?
I still had red ligature marks and petechiae all over my face and neck (little red spots from burst blood vessels) afterwards, but I don't know if that came from the partial hanging attempt or the garrote attempt just after. Didn't go over too well when I gave up for the night and went to work though. Lol...like a comic nightmare.

The best thing about it was less jugular compression, so minimal discomfort, and no tracheal compression, so I could still breathe with little restriction as I got lightheaded and the room went dark and I passed out. Must not have had it tight enough though, because I still woke up.

How long did you have a ligature mark?
How long do those spots stay? Do they disappear completely?
