Has anyone here ever been sent to a psych ward after seeing a therapist?
I'm nervous that this could be my reality coming soon, but I will not be going voluntarily. I will never agree with hospitalization for myself.
If you have been sent to hospital from a therapy session, what can I expect?

Hi. I've been sent to the hospital a handful of times from my therapist's office actually. I could always tell when it was going to happen just based off my own perception of how severe my symptoms were.

It was pretty basic if you've ever been sent to the hospital involuntarily before. Ambulance comes and you get on and they take you to the ED. Your therapist will give the EMTs a report of what's going on, sometimes with you there and sometimes without. They should let you make a call or send a message because they'll probably take your phone in the ED, if they don't offer I would ask just so you can take care of any loose ends. I have never tried to fight being sent because it's not worth it, so it's very "uneventful". Your therapist will likely try to protect your privacy and hopefully others won't have to be involved.

If that is where you wind up, I hope it helps. ❤️

This really helps provide me some comfort. I have been freaking out since my therapist told me he will need to call people if my mood keeps trending the way it is. I get intense anxiety about unknown situations and this is one that's never happened to me so I have no idea what to expect if it gets to that point. I like to think I'd fight, but realistically I'm more of a passive person who would probably just do as they say.

Ah, I see. ❤️ It is definitely very anxiety-invoking but in the end if it saves you then it's definitely worth it. I see people fight it and it never ends well, so I think being "passive" but also expressing yourself verbally is a nice calm way to go about it.

Thank you for your input. I'll see where I end up. I don't want it to get to that point, but I told my therapist my suicide date so to pull back now is going to look suspicious no matter what I say. In the end, it's his job and I wouldn't want to mess up his career, so if I have to go to the hospital, I guess I have to go. But I'll see what happens.

You're right, it's a slippery slope regardless of which way you go with it. I'm so sorry. I hope it doesn't get to the point where you have to go.

I've been hospitalised recently. The first hospital was awful, no privacy or activities at all and the staff didn't care and was rude. Second one was allright and I even made some friends there and the staff was very nice. Though I know it's sadly mostly a waste of time, just so that society can say that they tried to "help".

I've had 2 different experiences many years apart. One therapist called the EMT's to come get me at her office leading to a lengthy hospitalization. Another therapist, years later, sent the police to my house to take me for an involuntary stay. This one was the worst. I didn't know they were coming, they didn't allow me to let someone know, and the neighbors were all watching (it was 7pm, dark and the lights on cop car were on). What I learned from this is to be VERY careful what (and how) I say to therapists or psychiatrists. Not a plan I would recommend to others. It's just what works for me.

That sounds awful. I think I'd have trouble trusting my therapist if they sent police like that. Had you voiced something to your therapist that made them do that, it seems out of the norm?

I am so sorry, and nothing you could have said or done could have "MADE" them do that - they did what they did because they are abusive, controlling, and work for an authoritarian system that seeks to crush our humanity.

Just so you know, "hiddenbpd" has both written publicly and then uninvited DM'd me about how justified SHE was in HERSELF forcing drugs into the bodies of psychiatric inmates.

She wrote that she had previously forcibly drugged inmates against their will, mocked me for sharing the U.N. Human Rights Commission documents in which doing that is identified as torture / cruel and degrading treatment and a violation of the Rights Of People With Disabilities treaty, and sent me unsolicited DMs saying things like:

We implement something called least invasive. If the patient takes the medication with encouragement, great no force. If they don't, the amount of force needed increases.

So I wouldn't feel safe sharing my experiences, or looking for support in avoiding / recovering from forced interventions, in conversation with her.

His decision to hospitalize you would be more about protecting himself than "helping" you. The last thing you need right now is additional trauma masquerading under the disguise of "help".

Yeah, it'd be more about slapping a bandaid on the situation and just preventing me from doing anything in the short term. I wouldn't want his job to be at risk because of me so if it's required in his eyes, it's required, aw well.

I'd like to remind you that you told me that you hoped someone would murder me.

But for as long as you continue to see him while seriously entertaining the idea of suicide you could say his job is at risk (only really if you literally say you're going to CTB when you get home or something like that). Now he has caused this threat to loom over all your interactions and your own life.

For sure. I prefer that he told me about the possibility, rather than just calling authorities during the session, but you're right, I think about the threat a lot now especially since I haven't seen him again since then (just due to availability).

No - I did not wish for anyone to "murder" "hiddenbpd."

I said I hoped that someone with a gun - like the police, like hospital security - would get her the help that they felt that she needed. Like being forced into a hospital at gunpoint. Like, if you run away - because you're an inmate, not a patient - men with guns will drag you back for hospital staff to assault. For hospital staff to torture. For hospital workers, like "hiddenbpd," to drug and violate. For hospital workers to forcibly strip and grope and tackle and restrain. For hospital workers like "hiddenbpd" to victim-blame for whatever happens to them there.

(She posts here about how it's a "threat" if it might happen to her - how "terrified" she is of it happening to her - but sends me uninvited DM's about how it was okay for her to do to others.)

I wish that too, maybe then you'd give me a fucking break.
You don't have the slightest inclination about how I feel about it, nor do you care. And from what you're saying you care as little about how I feel or what I think, as you assume hospital workers do. So if you're trying to give me a taste of my own medicine or whatever, you've accomplished that, okay? Fuck. Leave me alone.

I acknowledged, when asked, that I was experiencing suicide ideation. I also confidently said I had no current plan or method. But yet the police were at my door.

There is a "block member" function. I haven't used it, but it must effectively separate you from a problem person like this. I've been dismayed to see this one-sided enmity developing. I wouldnt want you to have to abandon the forum just because of one member, if it's doing you good otherwise.

"Problem person." I see. 👋

@Ashu, why don't you go apply your insanely fucking dehumanizing terms like that, to the person who fucking non-consensually DM'd me descriptions of assaults she committed on disabled inmates? Just curious, sweetheart.
