Inert Gas Megathread is a great place to start to find these kinds of answers.

The reason for having inert gas flowing at 15 LPM is to flush away exhaled CO2. There are more tips for reducing CO2 and they're all in PPeH, 5 Last Acts, and all the other literature out there.
