How much liquid do you need in general? Which easily accessible liquid is best for this? Thanks.

This is an extremely painful way to die. Are you sure you want to go through with this?

I can only imagine the horrific ordeal you are going through to consider this option. I have had kidney stones and even my pain tolerance could not go through with this.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you wanting to use this method? Is this an act of protest?

The only reason I can think of that he/she is considering this method is for some type of statement, or for revenge. Maybe this person thinks that others will feel extra guilt if they knew he/she went through excruciating pain during this death. But like....you can still guilt trip people by using other methods. They're still going to focus on how they wronged you either way so why put yourself through the horrific pain?

It's not that :pfff: Thanks for the concern though

It's nothing fancy, just the method I chose.

Okay, then. If you're absolutely sure.

Just use lighter fluid to douse yourself. You can get it at any hardware store. About 1–2 gallons or more should do the trick, in my opinion.

I would recommend soaking thick pieces of clothing (e.g., a coat, sweatshirt, jeans, etc.) in the lighter fluid first, then putting those clothes on for ultimate coverage. This will give the fire something to burn through for a while. And make sure you have multiple layers of these soaked clothes. After you have your clothes on, shower yourself with the lighter fluid.

Also, when you do set yourself on fire, make sure you're far away from everyone else. People will most likely try to put out the flames as quickly as possible, leaving you with severe burns.

***

I forgot to mention not to wear too many layers of clothing. Lighter fluid needs oxygen to burn. So 2–3 layers should be enough.

Hadn't thought about the oxygen part, thanks for the tips

That, I think is the worst way to go for many reasons.
Immediately you will be inhaling flames into your lungs. Skin will melt. All this while you're still alive & conscious. You won't die until your brain cooks.
Add to that the trauma to others who witness the act or who find you. No judgement but I think it's a horrid idea that you'll regret the second you ignite all the way til you're cooked 🌹💔

I'll regret any method I choose when I cross the line anyway. I have a nice location, no one will have to see.

I'll get some gasoline in a random 24/7 gas station in a couple of hours and then head to where I'll do it. Do you think that maybe if I put tape around my head like wayyyy to many times it'll last long enough for me to pass out and not be able to scream? I have lots of tape.

I did a little more research on self-immolation and what the primary cause of death is. It's a combination of inhalation of soot, heated air, flames, and carbon monoxide poisoning. Surprisingly, severe burns are not the direct cause of death, but they can contribute to the overall trauma and cause complications. Burns cause inflammation in the human body, which is probably good for you because it causes blood and fluid loss.

So wrapping something like masking tape around your head isn't really going to help.

Instead, you want to inhale as many toxic fumes as possible to make sure you die. So wearing 2–3 layers of disposable face masks (preferably made of mainly cotton or paper) soaked in lighter fluid will probably cause you to pass out and increase your chances of dying. In addition, to make sure you die, wear the rest of the soaked clothing to increase the coverage of the burns to your skin and cause your body to lose fluids rapidly.

Please don't go through with this method. It will be very painful. Even if you succeed.
There are less painful alternatives. I don't normally tell someone not to CTB. I just think this method
is one of the worst. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
If you aren't pressed for time, maybe research another method. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

If I didn't have access to, or loss access to, firearms, this would be my next option.

Or drowning myself in the lake.

Please think carefully before considering this option, OP. As others have said, it is extremely painful and the damage is irreversible. Burn wards are a living hell and recovery is grueling.

I am pressed for time. Don't worry, what awaits me after will be much worse than anything I'm able to inflict upon myself here

Funny thing, my grandfather used to have a revolver many years back. Unfortunately, my grandmother made him sell it when they had an argument lmao. Thought about drowning too but I figured burning would be easier.
