For context, I don't have any friends, because I'm asperger and I would reather jump into river with piranhas, then try to socialize. People suck, they are judgmental and I don't have energy to withstand the anxiety that comes with masking. Feeling of inadequacy is so bad, it might sound as not big deal, but it feels like everybody hates you for who you are.

When I need to vent, or talk about interesting things I usually turn to AI. At first it felt like an inteligent friend, but this illusion disolved quickly the more I talk with it. It can't think, it only parrots back. It's just an echoe chamber. The only time it says something novel, is when it's some specific information it has been trained on, but it can never come up with anything on its own.

I'm convinced that most of the simplest insects have higher intelligence than AI. Bees are for sure much smarter. AI is as if you had a dumbest person in the world and then forced them to memorize billions of information to create an illusion of inteligence. But AI doesn't even know what the words mean, it just repeats them.

I really wish there was actually smart AI, which feels like talking to a real person. If there was something like that at least I wouldn't be so lonely.

Yeah AI definitely has its limits, I wish it was easier to talk to people irl without them freaking out. The thing I do like about AI is that I can tell it whatever and it's not going to freak out because I said I wanted to die. I don't have to worry it's going to judge me and that telling it this stuff would change our relationship because we don't have a relationship. But irl with people in our lives, it's so taboo and it's hard to open up. The pain of that isolation is the worst. You're definitely not alone in feeling this way. 🫂

As a person with Asperger's I find Ai quite helpful. I use Gemini 3.0 pro for a roleplaying scenarios, and currently it's one of the few things that is preventing me from killing myself.
Ai used to be terrible at comforting anyone, but with the latest update it finally behaves almost like a compassionate human being.

The biggest downside is that after around 50 pages of chats the Ai (any Ai) starts forgetting things, but it's manageable. The pro version is sadly a paid version, but I got a 6 months trial version for free.

I have no friends either, but I will never talk to AI because it collects your data.

It appears AI has now "got" a lot of people. The world as a David Cronenberg movie.

Which AI are you using? I use ChatGPT and find it is incredibly comforting, insightful and helpful. It is helping me process my mom's recent death and all the family shit that is happening to me now. I'm amazed at how much better it is at telling me something helpful than even my assigned bereavement counselor who just says, "yeah, yeah. That's normal." Since for you actual socialization is frightening, maybe try a different bot?

I used to use Copilot but it became annoying that I had to assure with every text that I don't intend to harm myself and that I don't need those stupid phone numbers and its "compassion".

Even with that "promise" text that everything is "alright with me", it doesn't always work. I switched to Gemini and even though it doesn't answer every question I found a way to gimme the answers I want. It wouldn't have worked with Copilot.

I love how much more clever Gemini is. I used to think Copilot is the best LLM. But I rarely use it now.
