It would truly suck to have to have to worry about going to hell or coming back as a vengeful spirit. Just nothing afterwards, peace.

I am prone to the Christian brainwashing but there's just no way. The story has the universe starting 6,000 years ago. All the animals created then. Dinosaurs on the Ark. It's all part of the Jesus/heaven/hell package, and we 100% know it didn't happen.

I'm not sure that matters though. There could still be an afterlife of some sort. We don't know why any of this exists so maybe beyond death we don't understand that either.
Also, you don't really need to believe all those things. When I converted my priest explained that Christianity doesn't have to refute science. If theres evidence of evolution of the body, then that is true. But not the soul. That must be granted by God.
I'm not pointing this out to be argumentative. I'm certainly no expert or scholar and I'm aware the message from religious figures have been inconsistent in the past.

It would seem there is something more, but who knows. One day we shall see.

Jesus apparently fed 9,000 people on two different occasions with a few loaves of bread and some fish, and there is zero mention of it anywhere until Mark 40 years later. No contemporary non-christian sources, no eye witness accounts, nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same case for all his other miracles. The whole thing is made up.

That's another reason i want to CTB. Morons actually believe this shit and want to implement laws and polices behind it. We live in a clown world.

Based on my earlier comment I guess I'm one of the people you're calling a moron.

I don't understand that. It's certainly not a traditional support site but I don't see a reason for name calling when we're all struggling.

I didn't read your comment, don't take it personally. We all have views others disagree with. I think the Abrahamic religions are moronic. If you want to take that as an insult, go ahead.

Yeah I'm glad the supernatural isn't real, imagine just being out in the forest and some skinny and extremely tall creepypasta mother fucker jumps you from the woods, rips your lower half apart and then starts sucking out your intestines like it's spaghetti while you're alive. Sorry :))

Yeah, my foray into spirituality was absolutely a CTB prevention for a bit there.

It was a much more terrifying thought that dying leads to some other type of conscious life, as opposed to nothingness.

But I've since dealt with it. Still worth the risk.

People's imagination can be far worse than reality. The idea that people will remember their living life and then burn in hell for eternity or be trapped in an endless cycle of reincarnation after death is such a weird way to cope with mortality, despite the objectively more likely and less terrifying idea being that we probably just stop thinking. Your brain stops working and decomposes, that's pretty much it.

I'm honestly very grateful for that. I like the idea that there is a point where everyone will be 100% free of suffering eventually, just matters when and how much longer you're willing to hold out.

Okay let's do this some more 😁

Why even call it science? It's just what happened. There wasn't a global flood and mass extinction 4,300 years ago. God says there was. Problem!

Good one sir! I have only one Internets, but I shall give it to you.

As to the opening question, yes, I have said this many times.I actually do believe in a higher power, but I don't believe in religion. And also there is zero proof of any supernatural existence in this world.

But I still couldn't sleep without the lights on when I watched Hereditary 😂

You miss the point. Entirely.
I do wonder what the point is. God reveals perfect truth in the Bible...and starts in chapter 12 with Abraham? After wild falsehoods? Is Abraham's dad real? How about Sem? I don't see how a believer can take a story, indeed a genealogy, that starts at the beginning of the world and draw a line where it starts being true.

it's not all supposed to be taken literally. I'm sorry, I'm just really tired and depressed and don't have the energy to explain further. We're both struggling in life let's not focus on this. Let's hope we find peace soon.
