over a few attempts, i have tied my tie into slip-knots and tried to either partial hang with it or tighten it around my neck until i pass out. one time, i was by a tree, and i lowered myself into a partial hang, knees slightly bent. i felt intense pain, largely in the fact i couldnt breathe.

i was under the impression that i would pass out so fast that the suffocation wouldn't matter. However, i was there for possibly ≥ 30 seconds and all i got was my lips hurting and my brain feeling as if it would explode. no matter how much weight i put on the noose, i would not pass out, even if i wasn't holding myself up at all.

to be clear, im honestly way too much of a pussy to try full suspension. plus, given my previous attempts, i fear i may have to wait agonisingly for suffocation, clawing at my neck in primal desperation.
does anybody have any ideas as to what i am doing wrong? i really have hardly any options right now, any ideas would be appreciated <3

I failed also at losing consciousness with partial and full scares the hell out of me.

That's why I'm going with the exit bag

Partial can be very tricky to get right. Your problem is that you are getting just enough pressure to cut off the jugular veins that drain blood from your head (hence the headache) but not enough to close off the carotid arteries which feed blood into your head. This can be due to what you are using, your anatomy, and just getting the right position. Even on my attempts, I had to keep sitting up and repositioning before I got it right.

You said you used a tie. Is this a clothing tie? That is not going to be comfortable and may not hold your weight when you pass out. I would recommend an actual rope. 12mm or 1/2 in as thicker material will give you more padding. I would suggest a "mooring rope" as they are meant to hold boats so they are crazy strong, also pretty cheap. I had to put some padding around the front of mine by wrapping a washcloth around it a few times. This kept it from pushing on my throat so I could breathe the entire time with out pain.

After that, it really is just positioning and trying. Some people have luck with the rope right up under their chin, some need it lower. Like I said, I had to keep re-adjusting to finally get it. I also wonder if some people's anatomy just genuinely does not work for partial but I have no data to support that theory.

don't worry because neither do I lol. This is really harder than it seems. The other time I jsut got it right and became unconscious but ended up waking up because my body got up.

You need to lean into it like never before. It is not sink to knees and pass out unless you are very lucky.

that's quite handy actually. that does explain why i could never pass out. i figured the tie would work as ive tried before and it never broke but tbf i will be hanging for a while. thanks for the ideas :)))

Improvised ligatures work, most attempts. You owe it to yourself to get the materials and research needed to succeed.

Finding your 'sweet spot' for the carotids is much more difficult than it seems. Many people recommend keeping the rope higher up (closer to the jaw) but it took me many practises to find mine was much lower than that (closer to the collar bone). Also if you're using a pressure aid such as socks or other clothing, how dense it is and how they're positioned makes the biggest difference. Many pictures show them more on the sides of the neck but for me having them as close to the trachea without being ON it, and in a triangular shape gets the best effect

If people aren't passing out from partial it's simply not enough pressure and nothing else.

if i do it ill just do full hanging. Some seconds or even minutes of pain dont matter at this point. I know i will regret it the moment i become fully suspended. Good thing that i wont be able to escape.

Are you sure about this? I can pass out in seconds by pressing my carotid arteries with my fingers with very little force (relatively, that is. I can't estimate how much pressure it is, but I'd imagine that a low % of a person's bodyweight would definitely be enough).
It seems to me that if a lot of pressure is required then only a small amount of the total pressure is actually being applied to the carotid arteries.

You're surely more experienced than I am, but that's what it seems like to me.

Partial has challenges. You pressing with your hands light be more pressure than your average partial attempt.
As a method, it works. It is also prone to failure. Plan and practice.

I'd argue that you could redirect the pressure of 25-50% of your bodyweight to the carotid arteries with a proper knot and planning, like you stated.
It's definitely less straight forward than full suspension and most other methods by far

Partial isnt that hard for me, pretty much any location on my neck i can lean into and immediately start feeling dizzy and like im passing out. My si just kicks in and makes me stand back up. Its completely painless and i can still breathe. I think its different for different people.
