So I'm trying to recover so I don't have to CTB. I have two emails going into new dentists. I hope they can do the whole dental sedation thing and get it all over with. Here is the thing though. I've had so many cavities in the past. I'm doing my best to improve my dental brushing, but I'm worried that it's too late. My teeth are already beyond repair and if not the next few years in 10-20 years they will all start coming out. This idea terrifies me. I've been breaking down in tears about it.

I guess I'm looking for comfort. Stories of people who turned there dental health around. Maybe you once got lot's of cavities, but now you never get them and your teeth are in no danger of failing. Right now all I'm able to focus is on this and life after death. I have a call into my psychiatrist too. Maybe he can prescribe me somthing to help me get through this.

I've had 10 fillings so far. I just made a dental appointment today as well. By far, the biggest change I've made in terms of my dental health is drinking water with every meal. I recommend swishing some water in your mouth after each meal, especially if you eat something sugary, anything with bread or grains, or anything acidic. This habit will improve your overall health as well. I highly recommend it

I literally just posted about feeling anxiety because of my dental issues so you're not alone. I'm currently stressing because I need to book a proper checkup and I'm scared of what they'll find. There's another forum/website called dental fear central that may help you? I literally just found them pretty recently and it's helped a little bit reading other people's stories but because I haven't had a check up, I don't know for sure what's wrong with all my teeth so I'm getting myself all worked up.

I have an appointment in few months because a piece of my filling fell out. Having fillings in adult teeth is a nonstop pain for the rest of your life cause something can happen with them anytime. I wish i didn't have such bad genes. I hate dentists

My parents never took dental health seriously, it was taken for granted that people lose their teeth as they get older. So I had lousy dental hygiene as a child and am paying the price now. I may not have it as bad as other folks in this thread, but I have a small idea of what that's like. My sympathies.

I too have had bad oral health and have quite a lot of fillings etc. I recommend Regenerate Advanced Toothpaste -- it's a little more expensive than most brands, but it honestly works wonders with strengthening your enamel. You can find it on Amazon and in some UK pharmacies (not sure where you're located).

All the best to you @socrates.

I feel you mate, I can't get into see a dentist and my teeth and gums are f*cked. I've what I think is quite advanced gum disease along with multiple cavities. One of my visible teeth right at the front has rotted at the top and now rotting under the gum line and I'm scared (even when I manage to get a dentist and app) that there's no treatment other than pulling it. Good bye smile :mmm:

I've been thinking about trying that. I suppose it's worth giving it a go to see if it will improve anything. What differences have you noticed?

Mostly strengthened enamel. I have weak teeth but can honestly say the toothpaste made a positive difference.

It was on offer so I ordered some. Fingers crossed they will make a difference to my teeth.

I have the same problem, I am still in my 20s but my teeth are absolutely destroyed due to a 10-year long eating disorder. I have been living abroad where I have to pay to much money I can't afford for private dental treatment. This was the one year I was gonna spend time back in my home country where it would be far cheaper for me and BAM...COVID. Haven't been able to get a single dental appointment all year...dentists are all still basically closed and my teeth are gonna fall out...fantastic.

Going to the dentist generates enormous anxiety for me. Setting in that pneumatic chair and having the dentist and assistant peering into my mouth with those awful sounding instruments almost making me wanting to puke.

The only pleasant thing that comes to mind is that both dentists and truck drivers have among the highest suicide rates. (Wonder if there are any dentists here in this forum.) The worst thing is to be told that you have a cavity and that another appointment needs to be scheduled.

I'm with you friend. Honestly, I'm happy to have COVID here and not having to see my dentist. I mean who has time to floss everyday and to brush twice daily? I'm still waiting for the introduction of new technologies to paint a protective coatings to prevent cavities and put a lot of those dentist out of work.

I'm thinking of asking my dentist to knock me out with some nitrous for my next appointment.
