I've been seeing blue flashes of light in the center of my vision since the beginning of March in 2021. Over that time they've spread out across my entire vision, they're very faint though except in the center of my vision. They're usually not noticeable unless I'm looking at a wall or something. I don't know if the flashes are getting worse but I just started noticing them when I was look at a tv while playing video games. Instead of starting to feel sad or stressed I just suddenly broke out into laughter then slammed my controller on the floor. I guess I'm feeling sad now and, actually just now I'm suddenly on the edge of crying. I've been to an eye doctor 4 times, I've seen multiple psychiatrists, a neurologist and had an MRI and no one knows what's causing it or how to fix it. It just keeps getting worse over time.

I'm also getting random black spots in my vision and those keep happening more and more frequently. It's so bad that now when looking at a wall there's always a part of my vision with a black spot on it. I don't know if I'm going blind but I'm not really sure I care anymore.

I was considering putting off my plans to ctb if my doctor appointment on the 21st goes well but now I think I might just do it. If I keep getting bothered by the blue flashes even when looking at a tv I might do it in the next couple days.

When I was a child I had the world's worst migraine, summers were hell, every time I would rise from a chair, my whole vision went green and magenta and it would last for 10-30 seconds. I had trouble being outside, because sunlight caused my whole vision to go green and magenta too. I thought I'd live the rest of my life seeing green and magenta every summer day. Was a big reason why life was hell for me. I also saw the black spots you saw. And lots of other visual annoyances too.

I got some medicine for it a few times, and it helped a lot, but then it came back after some time. I thought I'd live with migraine and all those weird visual things forever. But it was finally cured with taking magnesium. When you are depressed or tired, you can need up to twice as much magnesium as normally. Good quality magnesium. Now every time I see something odd in my vision, I eat a few magnesium pills and they go away.

I used to take Magnesium a lot because I heard it could help with tendinitis. I think it was high quality, it was under the Life Extension Brand. I took 250mg a day, I don't remember if it had any affect on my vision, whatever affect it was it wasn't enough to get rid of the issue. I'll try taking 500mg and see how that helps. I'm also on multiple medications that are supposed to help with migraines, they've helped with some of the other health conditions I have but not with the flashes.

Holy shit what a random coincidence. I have the exact same thing. It's called aura migraines or something atleast in my case. I got them from watching to much tv and smoking weed. My doctor said smoking weed long term can cause brain problems like that supposedly. The meds that have helped me specifically are called Rizatrirptan and Topiramate. I went to so many doctors they couldn't find anything until I took one of my mothers headache pills and the spots and sparkles went away for a bit. I mentioned that to my neurologist and she mentioned that what I have is something called aura migraines but there's other terms to it. I know this is scary and you are probably losing hope but the meds are what's helping me and trying to get out more so my eyes aren't so sensitive to light. I couldn't watch tv for over a year now and just now barely able to watch it again. Try to stay away from the tv as much as you can, talk to your doctor more about this and I hope things can become easier for you. Hugs.

I'm on a very low dose of topiramate right now for this issue. I never went back to the doctor to increase the dose because I didn't have hope that the medicine would get rid of my issue, which looking back on it now seems stupid. I used to be extremely sensitive to light when I got a condition called visual snow a couple months before all the blue flashes and black spots started. Amitriptyline has helped that a lot but I still get after image near the end of the day after staring at a screen for 12 hours. The other medication I'm on which I think could help with migraines and this condition was propranolol, I'll see if I get on a higher dose of it than I am currently.

Thank you both @Manaaja and @Circles for telling me about migraine auras, especially about the black spots. My neurologist never told me the black spots were likely a part of a migraine aura if I had one.

That sounds really horrible what you are going through. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. This life can be awful as health problems are capable of torturing us. I can imagine it must be dreadful for it to be getting worse. I wish you the best in whatever happens.

I'm sorry you have been going through this OP and I do hope it gets better for you. I have an eye floater in my left eye and I know that doesn't even come remotely close or even be in the same arena compared to what you have and the other posters, but it annoying sometimes. I always keep my phone on low light and have everything on dark mode. Maybe turn down the light on your TV and computer to very, very low, and put everything on dark mode, wear dark sunglasses when out. Probably not a big help, but I do wish you the best of luck. Now that you have a name to the condition of what it could be I'm hoping that can better assist you in getting the best care.

Best of luck

Wow, I do have the same black spots in my vision. Since summer 2021. Sometimes black strings instead of spots. They move when I move my eye.

Because I'm diabetic, I kinda freaked out and thought I had eye damage. My oculist checked my eyes and everything seemed normal. He told me the black spots are normal and common. He said it's some sort protein (I don't know the right English word for it) in your eye and not dangerous.

I find it annoying and some days it's worse than others, but I'm used to it I guess. So sorry you feel this way :( Maybe you can visit an oculist? Just to be sure it's not something with your eyes.
