I've been told from someone who's worked in psych wards that mentioning bed bugs is likely to get you out faster. It's expensive to clean and shut down a facility so they will try to move you out as discrete as possible . Obviously don't be to transparent and desperate about it, but that's what I've been told. I wouldn't immediately start screaming about it ya know. They suggested if you have to, to pinch yourself to make a small grouping of red bumps to fake bed bug bites. You can google to see how they look.

Everyones different on how/why they possibly ended up there. If there's a chance,no matter how slim of getting better, you should try and be honest as well. Good luck

Sorry for ignorance: Are adults involuntarily commited and locked? Is that possible? That'd be so disgusting.

I'm in a drug rehab facility, considering killing myself because they haven't let me go out for three months. They do give me a private room of sorts, though they've stole most of my things and seem to have no plans of letting me out.

Yep; happens all the time. A legal spouse or parent can call the cops on you --not sure about if adult children can. Any cop can bring you in, or EMS. Any licensed medical professional can have you locked up if they consider you a danger to yourself or others, and they tend to err on the side of caution, so watch your tongue around therapists. Here in WA, it's a 72 hour involuntary hold, after which they can put you in front of a judge who can send you up for anywhere up to six months (there are incremental steps), renewable indefinitely. They're trying to change it to five days involuntary, which is de facto seven with weekends.

I actually got bed bugs in a psych hospital. Damn things are still on my arms 2 months later. Never go into one of them voluntarily.

I appreciate any ideas on this topic. First I thought good idea, then I remembered situation when my roommate in psych ward once complained about some bug ,not bed bugs though, and the nurses tell her its all in her imaginations and treated her like a paranoid nutjob eversince

I suppose it depends on where you are. I spent one week in a psych ward of a hospital over thanksgiving, 2013. Decent enough place, well meaning staff, I actually treated it like a vacation and made friends while I was there believe it or not.

I was, 13 months ago, involuntarily and violently (for lots of self harm)
