are there steps you can take to ensure that authorities know that it was suicide? Would a note suffice? Or do I need to film what happened?

Authorities will probably immediately assume it was a suicide, as long as it's a common method. I lived with someone who shot themselves, the other person I lived with was under suspicion for two hours or so before the investigation wrapped up.
A note would help things, but you probably don't have to do anything at all.

Im personally thinking of writing a note for law enforcement since I will be catching the bus through SN at a hotel. I need to find a way to let my sober living manager know what happened, my address isn't on my ID, and my sober living manager needs to know my mom's info to contact her to pick up my belongings with my goodbye note.

I've also heard of others sending delayed emails to law enforcement and/or family members but I don't know how to do that.

The police may keep the goodbye note - is that correct? Someone needs to confirm that for you other than me, I am not 100% sure.

Okay. I can also try to figure it out if nobody here knows. I looked up the futureme (future email website) and it won't let you send a future email before 7 days. Tried to send one for tomorrow to myself to test it . I may catch the bus either tomorrow or Tuesday if I get Meto tomorrow morning. Which is why I'm trying to figure this out.
