At what point will permanent brain damage happen (how long blood flow is cut off)? And what kind of damage would it be?
Varies widely I would imagine. At what point will permanent brain damage happen (how long blood flow is cut off)? And what kind of damage would it be?

I read one research paper where someone was rescued, from full suspension, after ~10 minutes with no "remarkable" effects and made a full recovery. ("Attempted Suicidal Hanging: An Uncomplicated Recovery." Sarathchandra Kodikara. The American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology. December, 2012.)
haha. I felt like I should give the source, because it sounds so extreme, being rescued after 10 minutes with no ill effects seemed almost unbelievable to me when I read about it.Nice to see a statement with a reference, it's like being back at uni!
wow. what a shit way to end up. moral of that story: if success is the goal, do not tell anyoneDon't think it was partial but

There's another more recent case of a young man who was found hanging and is now in a vegetative state for life. He can only communicate with blinking (once for no and twice for yes) and every time his mom asks if he still wants to die he blinks twice. Heartbreaking.Jesus that's sad. Why don't they just put him down. Humans can be so selfish and cruel wanting to keep him alive like that.
I can just imagine what his first words will be once he gets that computer, something like "Kill me, you assholes!"
Right fml this will be me if someone finds me. That's why I'm thinking the woods would be a good choiceJesus that's sad. Why don't they just put him down. Humans can be so selfish and cruel wanting to keep him alive like that.

Terrible. That is the shit that really scares me. I can't end up like that. If I HAVE to live then just leave me like this.Don't think it was partial but

Jesus, these stories scare the shit out of me.It's the cruelest thing that could happen to a human being. There's another more recent case of a young man who was found hanging and is now in a vegetative state for life. I mean I guess it's possible but the whole process would be a mess because a failed suicide got you to that point in the first place so Dignitas would be very hesitant. Secondly if you're in a vegetative state you can't speak for yourself so that's an automatic rejection from end-of-life clinics. I suppose you could make an advance directive or living will before you attempt, stating that your family do their best to get you to Dignitas if you fail. I wonder if you could make a "refusal of treatment" advance directive prior to attempting so if you fail they just let you die. I don't know how that works and frankly the whole situation is super depressing.Jesus, these stories scare the shit out of me.It's the cruelest thing that could happen to a human being.
BTW,if a person becomes this way, will their families be able to send them to groups like Dignitas?
Sadly stuff like that can happen with lots of methods. It's really awfulMy god, that would be the worst torture. Not just being a vegetable but having to live and depend on a parent like that for the rest of your life. That's the story that completly put me off hanging for good .

Jesus, humans are so ignorant, of course he still wants to die his situation has only got alot worse. In some countries, it is possible to get yourself a DNR (do not resuscitate order), meaning that if your heart stops beating or you stop breathing emergency services are not to attempt resuscitating you. This is signified by a form, and/or a bracelet (obviously it has to be clearly visible, and there is still the chance that it is "not seen" and/or completely ignored. Especially by non-emergency service people). I'm not sure if legal action can be taken against people for resuscitating you anyways, and I'm not sure how suicide counts in.I mean I guess it's possible but the whole process would be a mess because a failed suicide got you to that point in the first place so Dignitas would be very hesitant. I'm really not sure. I believe as a minor your legal guardian(s) would have to make that choice like when a kid is on life support only the parents can choose to take them offWould these requests be null if I'm a minor / a dependent? I have so many anxieties about this method going wrong and want to be certain that I have a solution to any ugly outcome. Wish this were easier haha.
Forgot to talk about this. It depends, but some countries allow older minors (teens) to outright refuse medical treatment, even if it's life-threatening to do so, however this can be waived by a judge. Others leave decision making to the parents except in cases where they're deemed "Not in the best interest of the child". In some cases, the medical caretaker (doctor) will make a decision instead of the guardians (like if the guardians are deemed irresponsible, or unable to make sound decisions for their minor). In cases where the guardians or medical caretaker are primary decision makers but the minor disagrees, they can sometimes fight to waive the decision in favour of their own (though they have to be deemed "mature enough" to do so)I

How much time does it take to fully die from partial? (when rescue will be useless) I'm planning to do it on my birthday next month, and I need to plan it so no one interrupts until its too late.

ignorant to true sufferingThis is just one of the most fucked up things I've ever seen.
His mother hopes that one day he'll stop wanting to die?!?
Her son's conditions got incredibly worse after his attempt, how fucking dumb do you have to be to think that one day he'll magically start enjoying life again?
I don't care if it sounds cruel but I think that she should be in his conditions, maybe she'll understand what pain really means.
Fucking whore.
