I placed an order for SN with IC just a few days before they went offline. I can see from the tracking number that I was given that the goods are in the mail and expected to arrive by the end of the month to where I am (Ireland). Good timing? Well we'll see.

For anyone who has ordered from them, could I ask what the package looked like? I had to give my mother's address as my ID displays that house, even though I now live elsewhere. I don't want a parcel to arrive at my mom's house with "SODIUM NITRITE" plastered on it. Is the packaging discreet?

on the actual mail packaging it doesnt say sodium nitrate anywhere, however it does say in small writing towards the bottom; the words 'nitrites' and 'nitrates'

you should get a text message (if you provided your mobile number when ordering) on the day or the evening before when the packet is due to be delivered

Mine came in a cardboard sleeve with a customs declaration label on it that said 'sodium salt', others have said theirs said 'curing salt'. SN is only mentioned on the inner bag.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of setting up mail forwarding just in case, but I'd say that it's all good. If anyone asks, I suppose that I could say that I'm making pickling solutions.

I ordered to England, my ID was different to my current address but I emailed and it was fine to have them different. It comes in a A5 sleeve. Mine had curing salts on it as the description

Hmm I thought that they had to be the same. No worries, I suppose.

How long did it take to arrive? My estimated date is May first.

That was quick! Mine was shipped last Friday, so hopefully it doesn't take long. It's not for immediate use, and I may actually use some of it to cure meat as it's meant to be delicious heh.

Why not, I'd love to have used it for food but dont live alone. I got a text message off Royal Mail the day it was delivered so watch out for that from Irelands postal service

Thank you. I assume the UPC package itself was just a standard shipping parcel?
Yes. A tight, white parcel

I will read the rules again and see if I'm recommended to take it down.

Edit: I will leave it up for now.. some people might need to see it for whatever reason. Will take it down once thread dies.
You're right though, seems that IC is currently catching heat.

FYI, SN can be used for curing meats and other chemistry purposes. If you for some reason need to explain your reasoning for needing it, explain that you are using for curing meats. SN can also be used as a chemical reagent, so if you are known to be more STEM-inclined or the meat explanation doesn't hold up due to vegetarianism or something, there's another option.

im not sure its a good idea to open the sealed packet unless u plan to use it right away as i read some other mention here about how it reacts with air and turns from sodium nitrite into sodium nitrate!
