I feel like a lot of people know deep down how shitty life is and just live off copium or survival instinct. But convince themselves otherwise. Or maybe I'm just biased idk… Like yeah there's genuinely happy people out there but. I don't think as much as it looks like at first glance.

Materialism is probably a very common coping mechanism and those who can afford it, can simply do this all their lives. I wish I was more materialistic and satisfied by buying new things to numb mind. It would certainly be cheaper than therapy.

Self Righteous Suicide

I bet 10% of population is maximum (800 million lives) but that's too far off the reality.

Actually 800k suicide in 8 billion population is 0.01% so I assume 0.1% or 8 million suicide is possible, with another 1% (80 million) who contemplate suicide but decide no or postpone until everything's no longer good for them.

I do think that a lot of people carry on existing because suicide is so difficult. A lot of people likely pretend to be content in front of others. There are so many people trapped in low quality lives after all. The only reason why I am still alive is that suicide is really not easy for me and I have never wanted to be here. I fear making my life worse by failing an attempt. I think that if N was sold in every pharmacy and people had a peaceful and reliable exit right by their side, then the suicide rates would massively increase. That's why they restrict it from people in the first place and try to force them to live as the society needs workers.

I agree. I'm pretty sure if I had access to N, I would have took my life in my teen years. Society doesn't like suicide because it needs workers; not because it cares about people.

My guess is that around one billion people would take their lives eventually if there was no SI.
