• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I low-key wish I was a fictional character sometimes, when I see characters ame-chan, I can't help but feel bittersweet they represent me yet they get more love than me just by virtue of not being real, even though she's mentally ill, it's cute when she does stuff like talking about harming herself for attention and just overall being unstable because it's coming from a cute anime girl. But if she were real, she'd be cancelled.

Imagine being a fictional character, to know that no matter what you did in your past or how horribly flawed you are, there's a group of people who love you just for being you, and they even accept your flaws or find them relatable or funny instead of weird.

I want to be considered loveable despite all my flaws.

One thing you could do is look up on those fictional characters and make your own personal character(s) by giving them your personal energy.

If everything really was fictional then I could have a fucking mental breakdown and still get fanfics shipping me with god knows who. Whether thats a good or bad thing I still can't decide.

It also probably would matter less if I was gone, because earth's horrible writing would make everyone very one dimensional and emotionless, so they wouldnt grieve me.

(Note that this based on my knowledge of the game from watching YouTube videos on it. I've never played it myself, so I might be wrong)

I mean, if she were real she'd probably would just end up with a bunch of people concerned over her well-being. The "love" she receives (though it isn't true love, but rather is a one-sided parasocial attachment from people who are into her online persona, KAngel) is because of her online persona, not her. They love KAngel, not ame-chan. Meanwhile, irl fans of Ame-chan are into her because she is a HOT anime girl. It's not just that she is fictional, it's that she is aesthetically appealing. If she were canonically ugly then nobody would give a shit. This extends into real life, where people are generally very sympathetic to mentally ill women who are conventionally attractive. It's to a point where women apart from that category are romanticized and sexualized, similar to how many treat Ame-chan's character.

This. It's different when you're an attractive e-girl.

I didn't want to get into it in my first post because explaining the way lookism affects this, is very long to write but yes, pretty much.
The reason why people like ame-chan is because she's hot but also mentally ill. She fits into the "hot crazy chick" trope that alot of media portrays. Even though they are scenes of her cutting herself, having mental breakdowns,, it is still romanticized in a way.

Woman are often required to meet a standard of attractiveness to be portrayed at all in media, so even a mentally ill girl like Ame-chan has to adhere to that standard, which is really fucked up, because the game supposedly is trying to shine a light on mental illness and mental health, yet it still only shows the glamorous side of it.

Oh yeah, people definitely accept things in fiction that they don't in real life. A lot of fiction is really misleading, I think.
