If my name is crossed out, hopefully I'm dead.

As many of you know, sleep is a perfect means to get away from such a nightmarish life, as it is the closest thing to nonexistence. I too resort to this way of mitigating the anguish, because nothing in the waking-state eases either my deep sorrow or my soul-crushing alienation from everything and everyone.

However, the problem comes when I'm trying to fall asleep and, suddenly, weird and frenetic muscle twitches wake me up from my peaceful slumber and bring me back to reality. In scientific terms, this condition is known as "sleep myoclonus." Although it's harmless and it happens to healthy people, to me it's a pain in the butt, since sleeping is the most accessible of the two ways out of life – the other one being death.

The human body is, yet again, as cruel as cruel can be – it tortures me while I'm conscious and, to top it off, it prevents me from escaping such torment by causing my limbs to shake when I go to sleep.

Still, this should be no surprise, as it is structural to existence to nag all living beings whenever it has the chance. And, if you don't trust my words, you can see for yourself what I'm saying – for example, notice how, in the most inopportune moments, the most inconvenient incidents possible will often happen; indeed, that's something that drives me crazy.

Eyyy, my people, muscle twitching sounds rather odd, I personally just have body pains all over and I'd say you should probably see a doctor but my doctor told me he couldn't find the problem, recommended me to a specialist that was never available and gave me pain killers(it's the healthcare way of saying gib me your money and fuck off)

Wasn't trying to make it about me, was just tryna say I know how shitty it feels to not have your escape from reality, whether it be sleep, drugs or alcohol

I get them bad from meds and recently from a rapid benzo taper.

Hypnic jerks or myoclonic jerks are common, but hellacious for me. All ssris, snris, tris, tetras, mood stabilisers, opiates, gabapentin, some antibiotics, etc can cause them. My thought is if you are on anyone of these that's the cause.

It must be awful and tiring having to suffer like that, I certainly see it as being something so terrible being trapped in this human body. But anyway, best wishes.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's due to my medication, since I didn't have any such symptoms until I started taking sertraline.

Yes, it's an ssri and they all cause it. Zoloft also causes tinnitus.

I got put on a benzo because of awful myoclonic jerks from Lexapro.

It's known side effect of antidepressants and many other meds. Google it. Myoclonic jerks.

I too like sleep, but it is too short and fitful and I always wake up to another miserable day.

I had that 'sleep myoclonus' when I had insomnia four years ago---Solved it by eating a lot of raw spinach, which is loaded with magnesium--additionally, you can take a 500 mg magnesium supplement, Google for the best kind of magnesium supplement for myoclonus(there is a Facebook page for Myoclonus support)--It also went away after just one night with 6 hours sleep, previously with my insomnia, I had only gotten 1 hour of sleep 10 nights in a row
