People on Reddit who have skydived said that as they fell they noticed they suddenly didn't care if they died.

There was an article mentioning the people who had jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and survived and all of them said they regretted jumping as they were falling.

The info is out there somewhere on google if you're interested.

When I skydived I was excited to fall out the plane. I wasn't suicidal at the time. Death didn't seem likely, but I figured it wasn't a bad way to go.

Skydiving is the only time in my life I ever felt alive and happy. I love the feeling of flying my body, being free of the earth and all the worries on it. Maybe they meant that because it's a dangerous sport, the chance that you will die from it isn't a concern. But you're far more likely to have a horrible, life-altering injury so that is NOT comforting. But I was never resigned to death when jumping. On the contrary, it was a means to achieve sheer joy.

LMAO
to answer OPs question, i dont think its the same feeling because its not the same thing. its doing something for fun and not expecting to die because you have a parachute vs doing something to die and knowing death is coming
SI will fuck with you
tho now im curious. What if you were to go skydiving, and then intentionally throw away your parachute to ctb?

It's not unheard of. People have ctb by just not opening their parachute and disabling any automatic opening devices. However it's not done often as it could adversely impact the skydiving community and garners negative local publicity for the dropzone.
