As I mentioned in previous threads I am male 26.
They say hindsight is 20/20 and I agree with it.
But this knowledge doesn't help me now.
This is what I should have done:
1) Focus only on studies, and not be so depressed that I have no friends.
2 ) Never start masturbating and watching porn.
3 ) Exercise every other day by doing 30 minutes on the bicycle machine.
4 ) Drink only water. No fizzy drinks.
5 ) Never read the newspaper or watch tv. It's just depressing. Read books in English instead.
6) After high school study accounting.

It doesn't help me now though.

I'm a bit older than you but really, wait some years and you will never look back at what you shouldn't have done. It's just how life went.. I know you're an atheist, do you believe in a free will?

Very interesting.. I thought we had that in common, being a pure atheist and not believing in a free will.

Yeah.
I believe we take actions based on our mindset at the moment and what we know at that moment.
But since we are always limited in our knowledge and can't see the future we make mistakes and take wrong choices.

That's what happenned with me :
My social anxiety took the best of me and I was depressed that I had no friends and it affected my studies.
I also became addictef to porn and masturbation.

I don't believe in making mistakes (that's what you get when not believing in a free will).
(still have to find out how believing in a free will can be part of atheism)

Don't blame yourself. It just the natural course of life you went that way with a lack of friends and social anxiety. But now you have us, we are friends. You're still masturbating excessively?

Accounting is only a 4 or 5 year degree. You could go back to college. Your independent and older so it would be easier to get laid.

One of the sad things about life is we end up regretting our choices no matter what they are. I focused on my studies obsessively and got straight As. I went to a top university and honestly, it made my life worse. I wish I focused on other things like making friends and taking care of my appearance. You're still very young and can study whatever you want and exercise. It's also never too late to break an addiction like porn. Be kind to yourself. Everyone has regrets.

You can always improve and continue improving. I'm older than you (But not by a significant margin). I didn't have much of a choice in my coping methods because I had no other outlets given my situation.

Self-improvement is a delicate process that takes time. I could write a book of my regrets and things I should not have done. Knowing the mistakes you made in the past is helpful. Understanding why you made them is key to not making them in the future. They key to success with self-improvement is holding yourself to a reasonable and rational standard. How would someone in middle school know any better if they didn't have someone explain to them that what you listed is bad for you? Many of us never had the proper guidance that we needed.

Don't beat yourself over it. I know it is easier said than done. There is a lot of stuff I can be doing right now, I know I'll look back and think to myself 'Why did I not do that.' The reality is, I'm not ready to do those things. I do what I can and I do the best I can at what I can. You're doing good OP. Keep going.

These are all things you can address now. Saying that it's too late, at 26, is a bit contrived.

You can start exercising, you can start drinking water, you can study more; study less, whatever. Discipline doesn't just manifest itself, you need to do something about it, other than lament a lack of it.

The best time of my life started when I was exactly 26–and I had no idea that that life was just around the corner at the time. My life completely changed in an instant. No shit. Maybe your life is just about to reach a turning point? That being said, I agree & wish I could go back and focus on school and study something finance-related.

No it's not going to change for me.
I hate my life and I hate life in general.

How old are you now?.
