I never thought I'd feel so alienated on a SUICIDE forum of all places

I left reddit because it sucks and won't let you talk about suicide at all really. I came here thinking it would be more understanding and less censored. It isn't censored but the understanding part is LACKING. This place has been extremely toxic lately and I don't even want to come on this forum either, one of the only places on the internet where you can talk about suicidal feelings openly. But as soon as you state a reason someone doesn't agree with, they label you a loser, pussy, idiot, overreacting etc. I know we all hear this in our daily lives anyway, so why do we do it here?

I like to think that this isn't the case for most of the people here. Is there a specific post where this occurred that you could link? People here generally are understanding, albeit likely a bit more on edge following the 5th, especially those of us within the States.

Maybe take a break from the forum and any other forms of public discussion (including social media) for a little while.

I took a look at your post history and see where you're coming from with this (I think). If you decide against taking a break, then all you can do is try to ignore the vocal minority and focus on the majority who I feel like are doing a pretty good job in supporting each other through this.

If anyone's resorting to personal attacks, just report them to the mods. Do not engage them and try not to dwell on it because they don't know you enough to be making personal judgements about you.

Yeah man I really really really hate the internet but I find myself hating everyone around me, I just hate people and the world right now. Any time I try to talk about somebody has to say that's stupid, you're stupid, you're ignorant, someone on here even used the R word referring to my reasoning. Stupid af. I say people suck and then some people give such strong proof of that it's crazy. Makes me want to be completely antisocial and go hide out in the woods forever. If only I had the resources to do that.


Thank you though, feels like a fire of anger burning in me right now and nobody takes anything I say seriously. I appreciate the guidance.

Sorry you're experiencing this. Those are the very minority, don't let them get to you. Also this being a place basicly for suicidals, we mostly have bad life and sometimes extra bad days that reflect on our choice of wording. Try not to take it personally.

I also feel alienated on this site albeit for a different reason than you. I guess this is just further proof that life definitely isn't meant for me and that I'm not really meant to be a human. I'm sorry for how you feel and you have my condolences. I personally believe that, aside from a few minority of people on here, this site isn't really that empathetic compared to the average social media site. Yes, there's definitely more of an understanding of suicide and how it isn't always wrong to want death but, in terms of empathy, I personally can't see it

You summed up SS perfectly. The trick is to not give a fuck who you offend. This place is very cliquey, and you'll find people who feel the same about things as you do in a relatively short amount of time.

There are a few people for whom I really consider my words because their feelings matter to me. All of these people I either know irl or have known for quite some time online. Everyone else can either agree or disagree with me, but how they feel has about as much impact on my life as what's happening on a random street in China right now.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this here. I think the majority of members have empathy and good intentions but, you're always going to get one or two bad apples. If it seems like trolling or bullying though- report it.

Also, the 'ignore' feature is useful. We're all going to have people who just trigger us. I expect I unintentionally trigger some. It's almost bound to happen when we're discussing such sensitive, controversial things. So that can help too- simply not to see posts by them.

There are some pro-life lurkers and trolls on here, who push toxic positivity. Others, for some strange reason, are trolls who try and invalidate someone's feelings. You were right to leave Reddit, as it's a pro-life shithole with countless numbers of idiots and vapid, mindless commentors. Most of the people on here are like you. They're looking for a place to discuss suicide. And while some are obviously trying to get attention, they shouldn't be attacked for that. This should be a safe place to at least have suicide discussions of all kinds.

Thank you for the reasonable words and understanding. I am fairly new to this forum and I also perhaps got too upset at just a few people trolling. That's just inevitable online I think. Most people here have been overwhelmingly understanding and cool including you so thank you.

Not everyone here is judgemental or opinionated.
I've met some very kind, helpful people here.
Sorry your experience isn't what you were looking for but this is an open forum so there's a cross -section of people here. I hope you are spared being out in a bad position here in the future & if someone is inappropriate or hateful or breaking rules you can report them to the mods.

If there is anything I learned, it is that 99.9% of people SUCK, both irl and online. That includes this forum, which is no better than other social media.
