So last year in December I went to the mental health for almost attempting suicide twice. After getting out from the 2nd one I was put on Prozac and Abilify. I got off Abilify about 6 weeks ago and got on Lamictal instead. I don't know what dose mg I take, but assuming how small I am and being new to this medication I will assume 25 mg. I been going up a extra pill every 2 weeks. Currently I take 4 lamictal pills every day along with my prozac and ambien medication.

Now straight to the point - I started to smoke weed (Indica- King Louis OG to be exact) when I first was on lamictal, but as time went on and higher the dose I started becoming really depressed the next day after I smoked the previous night before. I stopped, but I also later did it a few more times and started to hallucinate visually. So I stopped smoking weed. My psychiatrist told me to cut off the any substance that may have affect to that. So I stopped, but I did it a few times after our appointment. However, last night I had a small hallucination while sober. I have no idea why.

FYI I am at risk of having a bipolar disorder, but it is still unknown so I was officially diagnosed with a mood disorder only. I know if smoking weed can cause schizophrenia.

If you read this far congrats. Any opinions on this?

Hey, smoking weed caused me to have a psychotic episode and be hospitalised 3 times. Following that I was diagnosed bipolar. The weed that is around nowadays isn't harmless, I regret everything that's happened to me and I don't think there's any way it would have happened without smoking.

That is why I been stopping. I do miss how it made me feel. Oddly I only hallucinate if its pitch dark.

I used to be a stoner, i have many mental problems now but weed is not what caused it - on the contrary, it helped me and could of prevent my current psychosis.
I am too at risk just like you, and my bpd and other mental problems caused due to traumatic events only. People would usually develop a mental illness after a certain event or synthetic drug. (i used to smoke synthetic weed as well and kept my sanity but never tried lsd cause it could make me crazy ).
Let me stress this out- my current situation got to such a low point and keep getting lower to a point of maybe a second and worst psychosis because im in a bad place without the option to smoke weed)
I have a very close friend and her mom is schizophrenic so she's at a high risk, she does all sorts of drugs and she's 100% okay.
I have another friend who got schizophrenic symptoms after using shrooms, i thought she had lost her mind forever yet it was only a temporary mind loss (few months) and she recovered fully. ( sometimes the problem are the psychiatrists who hurry to define you with a mental illness and feed you with pills and by that making what could of been temporary to an actual life time illness and im sure she wouldve been hospitalized and turn into an actual schizophrenic if treated by psychiatrists)
I do know people who lost their minds due to drugs but it was NEVER weed, it was after using lsd, dmt, katamin and other harsher drugs ( 80% of them recoverd fully after a short period of time)
Dont stress yourself out about weed. My psychiatrist knew i smoked weed and even though he wasnt 100% okay with, he didnt worry i might lose my mind.
Evenmore , marijuana helps and prevent further 'craziness' for some mental illnesses such as depression, anorexia and ptsd.

I hope whatever I smoked wasn't synthetic weed. I will keep what hallucinations I get to myself away from doctors. I might try to act like I am fine to get off of them soon as possible. Avoiding hospitalization.

What I'm about to say may not be popular, but it needs to be said.

Firstly, I doubt if anyone on this forum is medically qualified to provide advice on this. Also bear in mind that other people's experiences cannot be directly related to your own as there are so many factors involved that would vary.

Secondly, if you are really serious about trying to get better, then you need to provide all necessary information to your doctor. Hiding important information will only increase the chance that your recovery will not be successful. It's possible, for example, that a potential side effect of your medication is hallucinations, and if so your doctor needs to be aware of this and maybe switch your medication. I would also strongly advise against smoking weed. There is strong medical evidence that this can adversely affect those suffering from various forms depression / bipolar disorders.

Please note that my second point is conditional. If you are not serious about trying to get better and just want to go through the motions, then feel free to continue as you are.

Having said all that, I've hidden things from my doctors in the past, but I'm here planning my own death.

Whatever you decide is up to you and no one here, myself included, will judge you. We're all here to support each other in whatever way we can.
