Oh god what a monstrosity they would think we are.
"I love you, be sure to tighten the noose!"
"I love you, try not to vomit up the poison!"
"I love you, can we please just be together? No!? well then, make sure you land face-first, so you die!"

The comment section is so full of people hating on her. Calling her a monster and all, but yeah we of course are the bad ones.

There's a difference in being pro-choice and wishing people well on their journey, and doing what she did.

Perhaps this could provide some perspective/background: https://breggin.com/the-michelle-carter-case-archive/. Bregin was an expert witness for the defence but he obviously is well acquainted with the case.

From what I read and saw on YT about this (which obviously does not make me an expert at all) it seems this young woman (only 17 at the time) had mental problems at the time and does not seem to have acted maliciously. Perhaps she really thought it was best for him although personally I would never tell somebody to do something like this: for both legal and moral reasons.

yeah, shit got weird. I think a little weight should have been given to the fact that she had told him to seek help previously and he kept asking her for encouragement. I think friends get a little freaked out hearing friends constantly talk about ctb like he did to her.

She tried for a long time to prevent it. From the exchanges I've read, it sounds like she sort of snapped. Do it, or don't do it, stop fucking whining, kinda thing. She seemed like a normal non-suicidal person, so she doesn't get it.

So after watching part 1.. wow. it is kind of disturbing. Michelle actually seem to help her friend commit suicide to get attention for herself as she was lonely and had no true friends. To see if this would work. 2 days before her boyfriend died by suicide. she was already texting people that he had died by suicide to gauge their response. she also ran a memorial for him in her own home town and didn't want to move the memorial otherwise she wouldn't get the credit for it.

so yeah wow!

In the end life's your own decision not someone else's. He made his decision and now she's being scapegoated.

Unfortunately, society sees this as a case of, "he wasn't suicidal until SHE said to do it!"

Yep. Can't wait until everyone who insults someone else is now responsible of that person kills them selves "because you made them feel bad"

I watched it last night. That one defense psychiatrist had some interesting things to say about the demonization of young women by society as a whole. What she did wasn't ok but ruling it involuntary manslaughter was quite a leap.

I think she was lucky to get involuntary, considering the hysteria.

It was interesting that one of the very first clips was about how she looked. "Slim, blonde, dressed in XYZ, as if she expected to be photographed." She was apparently slim and blonde on purpose just to lure boys in, and anyone dressed nicely for court can only be flaunting their looks for photographers. Evil.

I see she is appealing to the supreme court claiming it should be covered under free speech. that should be interesting.

there was just nothing she could do to change the public option of her. she was damned from the start.
