i have been off of this drug for months, but i cannot stop thinking about it. the reason i often give people for "sobriety" is the fact that i love this drug too much so i need to avoid it at all costs. however, whenever i get drunk all i think about is coke, it feels i have replaced coke with drinking. i can't watch movies or listen to music with cocaine subject matter, or else i crave it. whenever someone snorts anything up their nose in media, i just get so triggered. has anyone else overcome cocaine addiction, do the cravings ever pass? how have you surpassed this addiction?

coke in particular sucks because you don't have to do it everyday to be addicted to it. my therapist often tells me how much of a powerful drug it is. i just want to be free of it. i hate the cravings and the longing to do it. it makes me feel even more hopeless.

my friend handled it with mindfulness meditation, learning to watch their thoughts. I think sunlight is key to mental health.

you can get a supplement called bromantane to fix your dopamine production after stimulant use (its not recreational, only as intense as caffeine), also low dose naltrexone to fix your endorphin production. Naltrexone can also treat drinking.

Another one sold by the vendor that sells the bromantane is a research chemical that was studied for cocaine addiction called neboglamine. I got some for anxiety, rumination and its subtle, expensive, but helps. Ironically i snort it in small doses to make the supply last longer but its a very very fine powder so it reallly sucks lol. They also have a weird one called tak653 that i recommend over the nebo, it does a bunch of good stuff involved with craving, iq and neurogenesis.

also just try chasing endorphins in other ways like exercise

The media promotes so much drug use its crazy. Many of these directors and actors do not even use these drugs, and they promote them to young people anyway and make them seem casual causing many lifetime addictions and untold pain. Once you get addicted to a drug, or a feeling, its difficult to get off. The best treatment for drugs seems to be the 'AA' method. IE: support groups.

If you're already off the drug, that's great! It was very hard for me to stop.

I was addicted to coke for a while. Daily use for maybe 3-4 months or so at the end of 2015, then on and off use until the end of 2017. The cravings took years to go away but they eventually did. For a while even after I stopped craving the drug itself, I would still want to snort other drugs, but I'm slowly overcoming that too. Other drugs aren't as fun or comfortable to snort. Another thing that I did is that I watched the TV show Narcos which is about Colombian cocaine cartels. I was on acid when I watched some of it and knowing of all the bad stuff that happens to make coke made me very strongly never want to have cocaine again.

I quit daily use of cocaine in 2016 by switching to meth (it's a hell of a lot cheaper and ultimately after 9 more months of addiction was an easier withdrawal for me, but destructive in different ways) For a while after stopping meth I went back to drinking, but I had to stop that too. I've figured out that I've been self medicating for cPTSD all along, and now I use low dose edibles. Much healthier than the other drugs. I use prescription stimulants again, but I took a break for a few years between the coke/meth addictions and getting another prescription. Took me trial and error to find something I won't abuse but still helps with ADD symptoms, but I settled on Focalin.

One thing that helps for me to remember all the downsides of snorting coke, the extreme sadness I'd feel the day after a binge, the insatiable hunger for attention and affection that was not coming because I was too depressed to get out of bed and too ashamed to admit I had a problem. The effect of making it seem like I'm not depressed to people if I interacted with them while high. The grossness of all the random cutting agents, I rarely had a consistent source. The money, so so much money but it was mostly bitcoin that I could have sold for quite a profit instead.

If Narcos helped you to stay off coke, Cartel Land might be worth a watch if you ever need help staying off meth. It's a documentary I watched some years ago about the Mexican cartels, in comparison to Narcos it does a better job of showing the impact of the drug trade on regular people, but it was difficult to watch.

I don't know much about addiction. I've done coke and it was fun, but I've never liked drugs. I grew up taking adderall. My ADHD was misdiagnosed PTSD. I have had addictions to media and high adrenaline activities. It always seemed like I traded one thing for another. I think the healthiest addictions were mountain biking, rock climbing, and free running. Do you think you can trade-off addiction to a high adrenaline activity or switch to a milder stimulant like coffee?
