I know what you mean. I have a bunch of friends on the suicide forum, and I've gotten close with people. Even though it wouldn't surprise me if my friends on SS eventually died by suicide, it would break my heart.

@Shamana I think the recent media scrutiny scared a lot of people. I got messaged by a particularly overzealous member quizzing me if I was some duplicate undercover account. People are paranoid...

@ScorpiusDragon it's (pleasantly) strange how caring and supportive internet friends can be. I can't pretend that losing them doesn't hurt

I have no IRL friends left. My online friends on SS have been much more concerned about my well-being than my IRL friends ever have. They are a ray of sunshine in my otherwise lonely existence.

Gah me too. I had a big cry today about how many IRL friends I've lost in the past eighteen months. That's the beauty of SS friends. No one gets shitty if you're too depressed or anxious to leave the house and you cancel plans too often or are a misery guts. Because we're all like that.

Personally i would say that with the recent discussions on childhood suicide as a grand solution to bullying I would say there is a cult built around death as a the ultimate solution. Members being envious and thinking its just fine. The younger the better. I didnt have a great deal of faith in ethics of this place beforehand but that discussion removed it completely.

Well the truth is that bullying will never go away. But the more ethical solution is not to have kids.

Bullying is not unsolvable problem. Ideally you remove the bullies and dont kill the victims.

That was a particularly disgusting side of this site. In that sense, I think I agree that death is lorded here as the ultimate solution - and in some cases, I guess it is - but that thread ignored the abusers and punished victims

I wish there was some way to know, if they don't tell you, "this is it." Even then how can you know for sure? Some members stop posting, and it's left me wondering if they're gone to the other side.

I have wondered about so many members... and most of the time they're people I don't even know. Just usernames I get used to seeing and enjoying the posts of and then don't see anymore.

Being imperfect is part of the human condition. Especially in younger years. Its okay to look back and realize you made mistakes.

In the past ihad anger problems, and was sometimes violent. But i never seriously injured anyone.

I work with a lot of young people (10 - 17 years old) that have autism, and it's really common... that doesn't make it okay, but I understand how frustrating it would be living in a world where it's so hard to communicate what's going on in your head. I've noticed that the violence doesn't happen to hurt people, but because the person doesn't know any other way of expressing frustration.

I'm sorry if I'm crossing a line here, but being a dick is not necessarily related to mental illness. Sometimes Im just plain lazy and sometimes I do things I know that I wrong but I do them anyway. There is not always politically correct excuse.

That's also really common when people can't communicate hurt or frustration safely. I don't mean to say any of this to minimise how hard your experiences would have been - I just understand how you could end up feeling like you needed to do all those things.
