I always come up with stupid excuses. This has to stop!!!! I've been stuck here for years. I no longer want to continue like this. I just have to get shit together and do it. How do I gather the strength and willpower to finally get it done?

Recall all the pain that made you want to ctb, then imagine all the disappointment you're likely to go through in the future. Condense all of these into a single day, as if into a ball of clay, and then pit it against the ordeal of catching the bus. This usually convinces me that ctb is the right course of action, refreshing my motivation for it. Overcoming the survival instinct is a different matter though, oftentimes all the convincing we tell ourselves won't matter much. I believe you really need a certain 'madness' to bring yourself to go through it without much thought. But I guess you already know all these, sorry couldn't be of much help. Just make all the needed preparations for your method, so that should the day come you suddenly feel ready, and enough to bring yourself to do it, then it's finally about time then.

Maybe you're doing it wrong. you shouldn't be gathering courage to do it. have some fun. do what makes you happy. you deserve it. then think of suicide with all its consequences as another thing that can make you happy.

I really relate to this post. I'm actually a really motivated person when something has to be done by a certain time limit it's always done because I feel there is this pressure of what is expected of me. It gives me this anxiety and drive even when I believe it might not even be possible. For example my masters dissertation..which was no joke completely out of my ability. But I had a deadline and it had to be done- and the fear I felt of not completing it was indescribable. But throughout the metal breakdowns I did it.

Point is for me having everything ready kinda takes the pressure away and our brains have a habit of telling us that this week isn't good bevauae it's so so's birthday or it's Christmas and it will ruin it forever for everyone else. Pressure Is the only way around procrating and only by setting a date, having a ridged plan of how it will go down it the only way to overcome that in my opinion.

Pretty much sums it up. To add to this, I also try to be physically unhealthy just to add more attrition and torment so that not only am I attacking my survival instinct from one area, but multiple areas (physically, psychologically, and spiritually). However, you must be careful when you try to purposefully sabotage yourself because if you give too many hints or signs, others around you may catch wind or pry into your life.

We are programmed to survive, also society does not make euthanasia accessible to just anyone.

I was about to reply to this thread, as it was on the front page but then I realised that it was from 2018. I hope the OP found the peace they were looking for and are free from suffering.
