For reference it's a piss tool kit, so I'll have to put it together, and this'll be my first time doing that. This is the one, it's on sale right now, about $450, ways cheaper than a Glock.

you can pick up 12 gauge shotguns in America for around $400-$500 at most retailers if you are looking for any alternatives.

Do you mind sharing why you've chosen a rifle over a shotgun? I decided to go with a short barrel shotgun for greater dispersal and overall damage. Always eager to hear more about this method...

That would be my first choice too, but apparently those are illegal in the U.S. You either have to buy a ready-made one from someone who sells illegal guns (I know no one), or you have to saw the barrel off yourself. That would require tools and knowledge I do not possess. How are you planning on getting your hands on such a thing?

First, I appreciate this thread. We don't get a lot of info about this method... I just went to my shotgun choice webpage in the US and it says, "With the number of incoming orders being at an all time high, it is taking much longer than usual to process orders and payments." Unless I'm missing something, we should be able to purchase these so long as we don't have some law enforcement red flag on our backs.

I also checked out the NRA "Shooting Illustrated" detailing US laws on shotguns, rifles... Seems extra paperwork is required for a piece with barrel 18-inches or less (or 26-inches or less overall--"SBSs require a $200 NFA tax stamp and special paperwork..."), but I don't understand why any of this prohibits us from buying...

Of course, they add the classical caveat about criminal or mental health records. What am I missing?

P.S. I'm not adding links because I don't know if that violates some kind of TOS.

It's actually LESS than 18". It's important to note because shotguns with barrel lengths of 18" are readily available off the shelf.

Ah, thank you for that clarification. I know precisely fuck all about guns except that they are the most statistically effective tool for ctb. I assume that state laws on shotgun barrel lengths vary? At least that sounds like the kind of thing that states would all pass confusingly conflicting laws about.

I'm by no means knowledgeable about firearm laws but handguns will be much more regulated than rifles or shotguns. It's best to always check your state's laws on the purchase of each, and yes, each state has archaic and backwards laws mostly for rifles and handguns (looking at CA/NY off the top of my head) but shotguns are surprisingly simple and I THINK (not sure) the 18" is universal across the USA.

A short barrel shotgun? Are you going to get a tax stamp for it? SBS or SBR are too much hassle.

Afaik NYS (where I'm from) hasn't banned 80%ers yet although there is a law in the govt so I shouldn't have an issue…it's only illegal to assemble the kit, otherwise it should be okay. But what're they going to about it? Cuff my corpse? Lol

I want to do something along the lines of hunting ..I'll leave it at that

Not certain yet, but at least I think I'm entitled to get it. Within reason, I'll pay whatever I must for it. Thanks for the references, BTW.

Thumbs up for this line! The audacity of a government first denying us the right to get what we need for a peaceful exit THEN prosecuting us for trying to get out of life reliably.

You can probably buy a 1911 or a 45 Acp pistol for the same price.

I wouldn't suggest a AR15, especially pistol for ctb. The bullet is incredibly small - only .223inches/5.56mm. The pistol length barrel will decrease the velocity of the bullet substantially. If you are going for a rifle, go for a larger bore bolt action. At least a .308, but preferably a 30-06. Those would be the same price or even less, and there are plenty on the used market.

You don't need a glock pistol if you just want to ctb. Yes, I'm a glock fan, and have several. But anything that will shoot just one time is fine. Highpoint, taurus, cobra to just name a few. Highpoint also makes pistol calibre carbines. Those would be pretty good as you would get really high velocities.

Edit: PSA has a bunch of shotguns in stock around $200 (https://palmettostatearmory.com/gun...ow+Only+In+Stock&product_list_order=price_asc). Also, AR parts kits will still need parts and tools to put together. If that's your choice, just buy a complete rifle for around $600. In the end, that will be less than buying it in parts.
