Venting I feel strange when a name is crossed out

I think to myself... We are talking about something, telling our stories but someday, they are going away. Sometimes I find it hard to accept. A crossed-out nickname. They will never come back. A feeling of emptiness. Conscious mortality is a terrible idea. I wish we could all die at the same time.

Whenever I see a name crossed out and it's confirmed that they passed away, I feel a pang of sadness even when I don't know them personally..

I feel a little sad, but then I remember they are free from their suffering, so I more so feel relief for them, (if all went well of course) and then I'm slightly jealous they are done with it now. I hope I'm as brave as they were when my day comes. I wish I was on the other side already, instead of having to think about what that day will be like.

While it is sad that a life did not continue longer, you should appreciate their choice and success.
We are supposed to be happy when a bell rings in "Its a Wonderful Life" because an angel gets its wings. This is literally the internet version.

I find it sad as well when a name is crossed, but I can't stop thinking that I'd like to be at their place and have that eternal peace.

Seeing a crossed out name is bittersweet. Especially if you've conversed with them or they have a consistent presence on the forums. Because in a way, you know parts of how they think, how they feel, their stories. I'm a very sentimental person, so I never forget those things. So while I'm a bit bummed out they aren't here, I am also happy they are on the other side and they are finally at peace. Because many of us here are on SS because we are suffering and in so much pain.

I don't feel happy if someone takes their life. For someone to take their life, they obviously aren't happy with their life. So I will never feel happy about it.
I'm not completely sad about it too. Like I feel bad for the family and friends of the person. But I can't be completely sad for the person since they hopefully won't feel anymore pain, loneliness, etc.

I mean if you talked to them, then you will feel something more. But what I said above still applies.


Something I wish this site would have is a wall of people whos name is crossed out. Something where you can click on the name, and it takes you to their profiles. That away you can still learn from them and honor them.

From what I understand is that a name crossed out does not necessarily mean that individual has passed—it could also mean they have temporarily stepped away for a while.

Isn't it clear that I mean the ones who banned themselves before the CTB? I'm talking about accounts I know here that are banned for CTB.
