Especially if you live with others, you never know. This would buy you precious time, and every minute could be the difference between survival and death. Before people even started trying to get the door open, they wouldn't even know it was barricaded at first unless they heard strange noises, they'd simply be calling your name. If they do try to open it, they'd simply assume you locked the door or something and call out again.
It'd probably them a while to catch on to what's happening if they don't hear odd noises. And this is only if they actually came to your door during your attempt, this buys you so much time. It also could stop you as well in case of survival instincts, depending on your method, you could be unable to move the barricades out of the way due to lack of strength or whatever else. This is what I'm going to do, there is no backing out. I will only attempt once, one time only.
