Especially if you live with others, you never know. This would buy you precious time, and every minute could be the difference between survival and death. Before people even started trying to get the door open, they wouldn't even know it was barricaded at first unless they heard strange noises, they'd simply be calling your name. If they do try to open it, they'd simply assume you locked the door or something and call out again.

It'd probably them a while to catch on to what's happening if they don't hear odd noises. And this is only if they actually came to your door during your attempt, this buys you so much time. It also could stop you as well in case of survival instincts, depending on your method, you could be unable to move the barricades out of the way due to lack of strength or whatever else. This is what I'm going to do, there is no backing out. I will only attempt once, one time only.

What are you planning on doing?

Stab to the left ventricle with a large chef knife while seated against a wall, and then pulling it out. It's violent and painful but any other method I could use right now is either too risky or ineffective, this is the only way I can guarantee death.

A stab to either ventricle has a mortality rate of above 90%. 100% if you don't reach a hospital fast enough. It also leads to unconsciousness within seconds due to the massive drop in blood pressure, this happens faster with the left ventricle.

What about you? Were you the one with the plan of going into the woods with a gun and doing it there?

Yeah that's me. Either Airbnb, hotel, or woods. I'm thinking ketamine experience in a hotel or airbnb though before I end it all. Just being honest, you may hesitate and survive. It's very brutal and your survival instinct will probably kick in.

Yeah, hopefully when the time comes I'll be able to make it work, this is also why I think barricades are such a good idea too. I wish you well on your method.

You may have considered this already, but my understanding is that a knife or other puncturing object can be surprisingly difficult to pull out. Plus, the damage to your pectoral muscles may effect your strength, not to mention the pain obviously. Are you prepared for that possibility with a contingency plan?

Thats a gnarly way to go. Personally I always wanted to die by stabbing/bleeding out but I was too much of a coward and never had a knife sharp enough

If I lived with others, I wouldn't consider that a viable place to CTB uninterrupted & undisturbed.

it seems like it will cause unnecessary property damage, because once they realize you are barricaded in, they break the door (injuring themselves) or call paramedics (breaking the door). it's an extra expense, it may not matter to them if they are incredibly sad, but they may move after it, it's just an unfortunate way to do it

can't you do it elsewhere? maybe it won't matter to them and will be awful anywhere. i am not suggesting you do this elsewhere, just that unless they are rich this may be an additional large expense

This is the contingency plan lol, I would've never landed on such a method if I had a better option.

I'm confident that even if I couldn't pull the knife out I would still die. Even if someone came to the door. There would still be the whole barricade situation to deal with.

Then once they actually managed to get in, they'd have to take time to call the ambulance, then the ambulance has to arrive. It all takes too much time.

True, I have considered doing it deep in the woods. But we'll see.

if your chances of survival are higher outside of the woods, barricaded, your family probably would prefer the property damage occur if it increases your odds of survival

most family wish their loved ones were still alive, no matter how much they were suffering, it's just how it is, unfortunately

The left ventricle is only a few centimeters big. Even with the skills of a surgeon, that will be very difficult to hit. It's also covered by the ribcage…it'd be very difficult to drive the knife into your body like that and I don't think you'd want to keep going it after the initial stab because of the pain.
Plus, you could literally pass out from shock and pain and not be able to pull the knife back out.
Definitely don't do this. It's too agonizing and risky.
