Yesterday my husband bought me a plushie. Its a stuffed weighted lobster, about the size of a small cat. I don't own any plushies (except for an old horse stuffed animal that just sits somewhere forever and thats because I've had it since I was a kid.) It feels nice to hold. I like keeping it on my lap and it somehow makes me feel a little better. Like some of those noisy thoughts are just a little less. Just like when I'm with my husband. Last night was the first night in a long time I slept without having a nightmare.

Its nice, but I feel ashamed. I feel so childish and stupid. I'm an adult, I should act like one. But I don't want to put it down..it makes me feel better.

Does anyone else ever feel guilty or ashamed over something like this? I'm trying to get better, but sometimes the things that help me feel better make me feel stupid.

Never feel childish or stupid for finding comfort in a stuffed animal. That's what they're made for. I have a lot of mine from my childhood and sleep with my stuffed frog I got from build a bear for my bday as a kid to this day. I feel like I cant sleep without it.

You have nothing to feel ashamed about🙏 there's nothing childish about finding comfort in something. If it makes you feel better then who cares👏 I'm 24 and I sleep with my dinosaur jellycat every night🦖I did feel a bit silly at first but now I don't care because it makes me feel better❤️

I completely understand how you feel, and would feel the same way in the same situation. I beat myself up for being childish a lot. Yet reading your post I'm just jealous and thinking about how cute that lobster plushie must be! We're all crueler to ourselves than we'd be to someone else.

Love yourself. You deserve love. Your feelings are never stupid. Ever. What we do on those actions can be stupid if we hurt ourselves or others. But the emotions on their own aren't bad.

Don't feel guilty or ashamed. It has a measurable effect on your mood. That's a concrete thing not to be sniffed at. Who cares if a cuddly to helps you. If it saves you thousands in therapy then fuck the haters!

It is so cute 😭 his name is Lenny amd I love him very much.

I find it so hard to not beat myself up over stuff like that . I've always had to be more mature growing up. I have a sibling thats way older than me and our relationship dynamic makes it feel like I'm the older sibling all the time. We can get through it, even if our brain keeps telling us otherwise 🫂

I can relate and oftentimes I feel like I am childish for someone my age (I'm 27). A lot of my interests could be considered "childish". I still watch and love shows like SpongeBob, Camp Lazlo, MLAATR, Ed Edd & Eddy, and a lot of other Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon shows as well as video games that are mostly meant for kids. I have plushies too!

Screw societal expectations and anyone who tries to tell you what you're "supposed to enjoy" at a specific age. Enjoy your lobster plushie. ^^
