I don’t understand why suicide prevention exists in many cases.

With the way the world works and is designed, it feels as though it was tailor-made to force some people down this path. The world has so many factors that influence how people live and what situations they end up finding themselves in that a blanket "ban" on suicide seems dumb since it doesn't take into account the varying scenarios and reasons why someone may want to not continue on. Suicide prevention should ideally be encouraging people who are considering it to explore other options first before committing but still allowing them to have the final say in whatever they choose to do. We're never going to reach a world where people don't feel compelled to CTB, so the aim and views surrounding it need to change.

I see any kind of suicide prevention as just prolonging suffering, it's inhumane to me expecting someone to suffer when they want to die, and in general I'm very against the idea of preventing suicide as it's our life, our decision, like nobody is obligated to continue enduring this existence that they were burdened with in the first place. Suicide is a human right, not something to be prevented.

1). Humans are utilitarian animals: we seek to maximize pleasure and minimize pain. Suicide decreases pleasure and increases emotional pain in a person's life by causing emotional distress and decreasing the size of their social circle. Thus, for most "normal" people who lead lives where their pleasure outweighs the pain, suicide prevention is self-interest to in order for them to preserve and maximize their own happiness. In other words, it's selfish.

2). Legally and judicially, the notion of a hierarchical state--as opposed to a communal or collective one--requires living humans to operate systems of hierarchy and power. You cannot have nobles unless there are peasants; "haves" only exist alongside "have-nots". A king of a dead kingdom is no king at all.

3). Suicide is considered disruptive and taboo because it brings attention to the fact that the purpose of human life is not self-preservation but self-determination. The ability to choose against one's instincts for the sake of a motivation that is rational and/or ideological is contrary to many pre-existing social constructs brought about by civilization, related to #2, but also to viewpoints that are considered basic perspectives of the human condition (e.g. "life is good and valuable").

Thus, prevention is codified as a legal, social, cultural, and philosophical practice.

This seems to be the most plausible explanation as for why. Unfortunately, this also means that attitudes and social practices towards suicide are unlikely to change anytime soon then. However, I'm hopeful that assisted suicide might change this.
