What I mean by this, is that I don't function well during the daytime, especially after the first few hours upon waking up. I get this sense of dread and unease for most of the day, even after taking meds, and then I settle more after 6pm. My body clock is more content at night time, allowing me to settle for a few hours (before I hit the sack). Then it's time to start all over again the next day. Daytime is such a fucking drag, at least that's the way I feel about it.

Maybe it has to do with the timing of the meds?

Nah, I take them when I wake up. Tbh, I've always been a night person since I was a kid. I have an assortment of mental illnesses including social anxiety and depression.

Do you work or go to school? Or are you home through the day?

I have problems with the daytime too, and for me, I think this is why: The daytime is when people usually do things "of responsibility" (go to school, work, run errands, etc.) whereas I'm just home all day every day. I feel guilty for being "unproductive", particularly when I know it's the time of day when I "should" be doing things, and this weighs on me -- sometimes quite heavily.

I find the evening and night hours are easier in this way, and I think it's at least partly because it's more socially acceptable to be unproductive at that time of day.

Yeah, I totally get what you are saying, 100%. I have had various jobs in the past and I was a full-time carer for my mother (before she passed). I have now been assessed as being unfit for work due to my past traumas and mental illness. But you are right, when there isn't much in the way of responsibilities during the day, then time can tend to drag.

I feel exactly like you, i wake up early since childhood for school, college and now work and i never ever got used to it. It fucking sucks humanity is not built for people like us. I function so much better during the night it's crazy. During the morning i am so numb, tired, it's awful. I wake up at 7 am everyday for YEARS and if i have a day off i immediately wake up at 10-12 am.

Maybe it has something to do with responsability and stuff like others said but idk, it can't be that INGRAINED in me you know?

They say nighttime routine is key for sleep. Same, same, same... Easier said than done obviously but... yeah.

Yeah, the work thing was exhausting for me too. I guess it is the way we are built. Responsibility can be a curse and a blessing, depending on how you manage it throughout the day. Life is just one big headache at times.

Man, that sucks that even the sleeping pills and pot doesn't help you sleep. A sleeping pill and some nice hot chocolate does the job for me, most of the time.

Very relatable, during daytime guilt feels extremely heavy when I remember all the things I have to do, but also I want to do stuff I like without struggling with the sleepyness at late night. It's so annoying honestly, maybe I should learn how to manage time properly so this doesn't happen that often.

I agree with everyone about daytime guilt, as thats definetly an issue that I face. Now that im back in school its making my feelings about the daytime less apparent, as im busy and feel productive.

I do not remember a time when I didn't struggle to fit into the 9 to 5 routine most of the rest of the world revolves around. If left to my own devices I will go to bed anytime between 11pm and 3 or 4am and wake up sometime between 10am and noon. Around that baseline I will often stay awake 48 to 72 hours straight -- nothing short of general anesthesia will get me more than 45 minutes to an hour or so's sleep at a time during one of these spells. Then when I crash it's the exact opposite -- I will literally sleep 2 to 3 days in a row. If my autoimmune issues are flaring then it can be longer, like maybe 4 or 5 days in a row. I'm a mess.

I might be talking bollocks but I remember reading how some people are just predisposed to being more alert in the night time.
It's to do with in ancient times how a few members would keep watch as the rest of the tribe slept and it became a kind of genetic trait.
I've always been more comfortable in the dusk and nighttime than blazing sunlight.
I used to work nights and never had a problem sleeping through the day whereas some of my old co-workers needed medication and blackout curtains and all kinds of aides to fall asleep.

When it comes to me, I prefer night time. I usually function the best during the night due to less activity going on.

I'm not productive since 2k17 ...
When I woke up ( 3/4 am) I wait for first sunlight, doing nothing.
ATM I'm in appartment and I hear my upstairs neighbors speaking about me all the time. It's boring me bc they aren't more productive than me but they judging me whatever I do. I frustrated so I don't go outside bc I can't... I hate people for what they think about me at their first sight 😓
It's like an arrassement at home 😭😭
