I usually just listen to music until I doze off.

Minimize light (the opposite is true when waking up. It signals your body), take melatonin (I don't because I don't have trouble sleeping and it makes me feel groggy the next day but if you do it regularly you wont get that), minimize screen time before bed (at least for deep sleep), don't drink caffeine close to bed (the half life is six hours but it still has a quarter life if you take it close enough but some people are less sensitive to it), nightcaps and weed can help lull you but it wont be as deep of a sleep since they interfere with the REM cycle, minimize stimulation, associate your bed with sleep so don't hangout on it a lot unless you're close to sleeping, exercise can help, have a good mattress and pillow, regulate your bedroom temperature, blue-light can affect it.

I listen to ASMR and apply mint oil on my head. It kinda stops me from overthinking and focus on the sounds.

I can vouch for the melatonin pills but some people get headaches from it so take a smaller dose first.

Showers in the dark with a candle usually primes me up for sleep. If that doesn't work I'll get up and do something and try again in 5 minutes. It's essential to put away screens and stuff, so resist the urge to use your phone.

Honestly my sleep is horrendous. I guess stay awake as long as possible but that doesn't even work so IDK.

take sleeping pills i was prescribed that are normally for anxiety. historic methods include hugging a pillow tight & turning on white noise & just waiting.

Exhaust yourself a little. An evening walk when I have the time does miracles to my sleep and I'm struggling with it too

I have loud upstairs neighbors and live near a place where I can constantly hear cars driving by so I had to get a white noise machine to block out the noise. I also use melatonin gummies and sometimes diphenhydramine, all of which can be bought from online retailers.

Some good advice here( although, I would avoid drug-based solutions as much as possible). One thing I would add that doesn't get mentioned around this problem is to stop trying to sleep. It sounds backwards but, what happens if I ask you to close your eyes right now, and absolutely, under no circumstance must you think of pizza. Just for 10 seconds, whatever you do, you can do anything else you want but you must not visualize or think even the faintest thought or words or pictures in the mind, regarding pizza. Ready? Go.

What happens?

So if you do this experiment, you'll find that doing things by force often has a tendency to cause them to fail somehow. A lot of things in life are like this. Sleep is like this, where the more you "try" to sleep, you more restless you become. So just give up your struggle to sleep completely once you see it present. The moment you notice that you're actively trying to fall asleep, just stop. Give up. We're just going to lay here, there's absolutely no need or no desire to fall asleep, if we don't fall asleep that's perfectly fine. Make a resolution to fully accept that. It can often be enough that once you stop fighting with sleep, that is when you fall asleep.
