Can you sense someone's energy even if you don't know them? I pick up on a lot of evil energy, at least in my city

I need to be around someone in person to feel their energy
I know this sounds super illogical, but so far I've been right a lot of times when I've sensed bad people

It could be that your brain is good at picking up subtle social cues and behaviors associated with certain characteristics and you just don't know how to describe it so you just label it as 'energy'.

Aren't those the people who associate numbers with personality traits and words with tastes? I'm not but it seems like a very interesting condition
There are many types of synesthesia. It essentially boils down to having "unique" sensory feedback. Smells and color, colors and names, names and feelings, etc. But there are lesser known ones, like having a graph in your mind/thinking in lines and shapes. Feelings, thoughts, and any of the 5 senses can get tangled. That's synethesia.

Not really. I'm a very poor judge of character. Especially going on first impressions. I tend to believe people at face value, then get an unpleasant or pleasant surprise. I think I can sometimes spot a lie though.

Empath?

Yes, people their energy either fuels me or completely drains me, without a single word being spoken.

Yes I can sense other people's energy. I can sense how repulsive I am to most people because of my Asperger's.
And no, its not some sort of paranoia, I checked and I confirmed that I'm not wrong.

I have a question, and feel free to ignore it if it's to personal or insensitive but, how do you sense that from others?

I can sense it because I see a sudden change in their demeanor. For example, if they were happy and smiling, as soon as I enter the room they all stop talking to each other and start having these long faces. Their whole cheerfulness evaporates. If I stay longer in the room with them, I can sense their unease because of me. That's why I gave up on friendships and relationships years ago.

I'm sorry about that, that's unnecessarily cruel and unrespectful from the behalf of others. I wish you strength.

I believe you, and I believe there's something real to what you're saying beyond typical explanations.

I'm going to fight my urge to write paragraphs and paragraphs, but there are a few intersecting disciplines that I think give a loosely organized yet strong indication for such things.

First, neuroscience, and the way our brains behave so differently based on the networks that are active and the types of waves being produced. In particular I'm interested in perception of time flow.

Second, consistent traditions across cultures pointing to such an idea. I made a big post about this a while ago, here. Religions and other spiritual beliefs forming in completely different parts of the world all seem to observe and come up with similar concepts akin to a field of energy connecting conciousness.

Third, physics and similar concepts. Think gravity - not Newton, but Einstein - it's about movement through time (see point one regarding our perception of time flow); zero point energy - something that exists but we cannot harness; current quantum theories like string theory that need 11 theoretical dimensions curled in on each other to make the math work.

Somewhere in all of that, I can accept that there is an imperceptible form of consciousness energy beyond our hormonal reaction to stimulus. I have not found anyone with a good explanation, and I don't think we're anywhere close to it, but I think it's silly to discount it. The best thing is to learn heuristics on how it affects you and can be useful/detrimental.

Echoing this.

And this.

There is much about the human experience that science has yet to identify, understand, and explain. I do believe it is reasonable to assume there is something to this and that we're just not able to physically observe it or measure it yet.

I need to be around someone in person to feel their energy

These sensations and feelings, I think, can be inherently difficult to articulate in words beyond generic descriptors (eg. "good vibes", "bad energy", etc.). When it's difficult or impossible to identify how or why or what exactly is causing a particular sensation, and especially coupled with "lack of evidence" being touted as proof against (even if only attitudinally), naturally these factors and limitations can bring about self-doubt in the manner of, "I know this sounds super illogical."

But a lot of things in life were illogical, before we made sense of them.

synesthetes are often very empathetic, I am synesthete and empath, I have never felt evil energy from animals, but often from people, that is why I love animals

I feel like I would be considered an empath because I've always been a sensitive person and can often read people—sensing energy would be another way to put it—but I also think that sometimes I'm just projecting, almost like I'm subconsciously trying to justify my social anxiety as not just in my head.
