I hung myself(unsuccesfully, obviously) a few hours ago. I'll say it was a bit impulsive as in I have wanted to die every single day of my life for 4-5 years or so and something pushed me over the edge so I decided to go ahead and try it thinking the worst thing that happens is it wont work.
After I put my weight into the noose I honestly only remember being lucid for like 3 seconds and I guess I must have gained some faint consciousness because suddenly I had no idea why I was hanging in my bathroom, almost completely senseless. So for that reason I decided to stand up, and I became a little more lucid but I was paniccing because the noose was still tight around my neck and I felt like I was going to faint any second, so I rushed to take it off instead of just finishing it off.
After I had been lying on the ground catching my breath I got up and honestly I didn't even feel terrible inside, so I decided to stop what I was doing for now.
Unfortunately I feel like shit again but still I'll probably just bide my time a little more, knowing I can leave any time.
Anyways this was 5½ hours ago and still my entire left ear is numb, also some of my chin around my ear mainly. Also feels like my left arm became slightly weaker.
Also my face is completely busted haha there red dots all over, and it's much darker than usual. Also the rope left a mark, since i used some socks as a layer between the rope and my neck, but the sock slipped off in one side.
I guess I'll round off with a question which I suppose is actually the primary reason I am posting this: reckon the numbness will pass?

Looks like you almost did it. Partial gives the escape option. I don't know if that is good or bad. Give it a few days for recovery.

Seems like I was just unlucky, I must have been hanging there for a bit when i regained consciousness since I can still feel it, my throat is sore still. My neck is especially sore, it's also swollen a bit.
I don't know if I'll go for this method again, if I did I'd need to do more planning but I have no really good places to hang myself.
If I had SN I wouldn't be here right now, that's such a weird thought to me for some reason..

Doubt it's a stroke, I am fairly young and otherwise healthy. I have no other symptoms that would indicate a stroke right now. Right now I'm actually more concerned about my face being messed up haha - I have an exam tomorrow so that could be awkward. Luckily it's online, so maybe the camera will conceal it a bit if it hasn't gotten better. Definitely appears I'll have to wear a turtleneck though.

Thanks for your concern guys.

25 Hours later and only the lower part of my left earlobe is numb.
My face just feels tingly now, and so does my neck in that area. Also I don't think my face will look normal for maybe 24-48 hours, so if you do this and are worried about anyone finding out in case of a failed attempt be aware of that. I think it goes without saying my throat and neck are still very sore.
Seems like all of the after effects will pass though.

Glad to hear you're recovering. Sounds like you cut off the blood flow to the cartoid artery considering how quickly you lost consciousness. The lingering numbness is most likely a result of limited blood flow to certain parts of your body for an extended period of time, similar to how you can sleep in a position and wake up with your arm numb.

You can PM me if you ever need to talk. Wishing you all the best.

I mean blood flow wasn't cut for more than a few seconds. I suspect it's got something to do with the bit of swelling on my neck, which might be limiting blood flow? Obviously I'm no doctor heh. Thanks

Wouldn't say it was a practice run, I definitely did it to die. I will concur it wasn't as well prepared as I would have liked, which is why i ended up surviving

Alright so 2 weeks later and all the damage has almost been healed.
I had dark noticable bags under my eyes for a week, which then slowly turned into a fainter, but somehow weirder, green color. Those are gone by now. The numbness on the left side of my face lasted for a week or so too, and I noticed if I touched a specific part of my neck I'd feel pain radiating to my ear. That pain is also gone now. Now It just feels slightly weird when I touch the left side of my face,
On the bright side it fixed a lot of other issues I had with neck pain previously it seems, hopefully that will last.
Overall I'd say though you should be sure you will succeed or people will ask questions because it will be very visible. Luckily it was not a problem for me because I have no friends, and didn't have any plans to meet with any family. Also face mask due to COVID made it less awkward to go outside to buy food.
