• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Recently, a girl's suicide appeared on the local news. The whole town was talking about it, the church, the media, everyone. I am young and I live in a very small town. I'm afraid I will end up like her, and people will try to find out about my life, and the cause of my ctb. I want as few people as possible to know about this, i want my privacy to be respected. What can I realistically do?

Theres not much you can control once you're gone but if you include in your note (if you leave one) that you want your privacy to be respected thats about as much as you can do but the people who knew you will talk and it will inevitably get around at least a bit just hopefully not to the extent of that poor girl.

you cannot do anything

people love to gossip, yet they hate being judged - what they talk about is totally out of your hands. the only thing any of us can do is to respect other people's privacy and not gossip about them

i highly doubt that once dead, anyone will really care anyway - regardless of what comes next, i would think that a living person and a dead person would not have anything in common with each other as far as thought patterns go. most people think like a living person (for obvious reasons), but once in a different realm, i would think that all of those little things that seem so important right now would be the furthest thing from our minds once there

Pretty much what others said here, and I don't think you can really effectively control the aftermath of a successful bus ride into non-existence. However, yes, if you leave a note or something, the survivors 'may' respect your privacy, but also whatever happens afterwards objectively have zero impact because your current sentience (the 'alive' state) would no longer be sentient and you would lack the ability to experience any pleasure or harm.

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do other than do what Cepheuss suggested and make it explicitly clear in your note that you want your privacy to be respected. However, even then, it's ultimately up to the living if they want to respect your wishes, and some people couldn't care less what the note of someone who has passed says

The authorities will also (inevitably) get involved, and C2C has detailed what will likely happen once they do in this exerpt:
The investigation into the deceased person (suspected suicide) case goes on. Pretty much everyone you have associated with will be contacted. Family, friends, work mates, neighbors, everyone recent in your phone, sometimes even people you have emailed. Warrants will have been issued to download and search all data from any devices. Usually starts with Cellebrite but every investigations bureau has direct lines with Apple, Google, Facebook, and many other places. Its extremely difficult to purge your data and most of the time it can be mostly recovered. Once someone is dead, most companies see no reason to keep their privacy and no matter what is advertised, they will work with law enforcement in a heartbeat. All thats needed is a warrant which is super easy to get when someone's dead.
(I highly recommend you check this thread out if you're ever concerned as to what will happen after you're found)
