Hi,
Im looking for advice on how to overcome the natural survival instinct when partial hanging. I want to die so much but keep getting to a point where I feel I need to loosen the rope.

That's a very hard question that dreaded SI pops up just when you don't want it too, you could try booze

SI is a bitch, you need to be in the right mind set, in the right place (mentally and emotionally) and get your mind into the darkest place you can, (the latter easier for some then others) I've got through SI, it wasn't easy but it can be done, what helped me more was my brain just switching off and going into auto pilot.
Booze can help BUT it can also have its downfalls

Tons of alcohol! Combined with sleeping medicine or benzos so you pass out inside the rope :)

You can suppress it, but I don't think it ever 100% goes away.

Your brain will do whatever it can do to survive.

If you got through SI how are you still here? Im asking seriously not being a jerk the only way to truly get passed SI is to be successful
Did you get passed it but someone found you and you survived?

Its fine, I speak of this often on this forum, I was one foot off the bridge, when the police who were trying to persuade me not too, informed me my brother was at the barriers they had set up, I didn't want my brother to wittness this, so I stopped, they took this chance and allowed my brother too pull me off the bridge.
You can find my experience here: https://peacefullyerratic.home.blog/2019/10/17/becoming-friends-with-my-demons/

I think with alcohol you get drunk to a point where you cant think straight a then proceed with your method.

Don't know should i create another thread for it or not...
But depression could work as a defence mechanism. Usually when you have deep depression your si is much stronger and apathy also works on suicide acts, so if you can't go to a store , your apathy won't let you suicide.
I feel more confident when using stimulants, depression turns off for an hour , so maybe for someone it's better? As i know antidepressants could increase suicide risk because of that mechanism.
Alcohol is a depressant and only drains your strength , for some people it's not an option. Who tried both? Any experience?

If you choose a peaceful dignified method there will be little reason to deal with survival instinct.

Sorry i'm not buying that. SI is the bodies/mind reaction to dying, trying to stay alive.
So if i'm understanding you correctly. If i chose a peaceful/dignified way.. i shouldn't have to worry about my body/mind fighting back to survive?

Due to hypocritic policies not everyone has access to easier methods

Well it would certainly help. Nembutal is a great example. Just fall asleep and never wake up.

Honestly, and I do not claim to have all the answers, but if you have SI perhaps then maybe it is not yet time for you to ctb?

There are those who jump in front of trains and don't flinch. I think when one's Human existence becomes so unbearable, so horrible, so intolerable then there is no SI.
