I just did a quick search of myself on the internet, and though the information is not up to date (about 2 years old), I found a page which displayed my "current" and previous addresses, phone numbers, and all possible relatives.

This is concerning to me, as I do happen to have a person from my past who used to actively stalk me, and could potentially do it again. I haven't heard from him in a couple years, but considering the length of time that his obsession with me persevered (at least 8 years), who knows what could happen. I am not sure what he's capable of, and the worry is ALWAYS in the back of my mind that he will contact me or show up at my home.

How do I prevent my current info from eventually winding up on public record? Is there a way? I do usually use my google voice number when applying for jobs and whatnot, but the address is my big concern...

Here in the UK we can opt out of our information being shared when registering to vote. Most of our personal information here is gathered from the voters roll.

I have no idea if that's the case here or not, I'm not sure where most of the information is gathered from. However the last address that is displayed for me, does happen to be the last address I was living at when I voted... I've now voted at my current address, I don't remember there being an opt out option...

I also don't want my mom finding out where I live, she has been known to send my cousins after me when I wouldn't contact her... and I quit cold turkey with her almost a year ago. ah god

I'm going to assume you are in the US, you should check if there is the option to not appear on the open register. I'm sure that it exists here to protect people like yourself and others in similar situations.

Well from what I'm gathering on the internet, it doesn't seem to necessarily be the case here. There don't seem to be any laws in place, and it sounds like information is compiled via various data collecting websites, some of which do individually have an opt out option. I guess I can attempt to track down any website that has my information

Thanks anyway, Poppa Fox
