Hi,
So I was sectioned today and now in a "lovely" NHS mental hospital. Anybody got any idea how to ctb here?

I'm torn between been a good little girl and taking the meds and pretending to be fine to get out quicker or kicking up a fuss because I really don't want meds in me, to lure me into a false sense of "everything's better, life's worth living" when clearly it's not and never will be!
I don't want help, I'm beyond that, it's my life and I want to decide my death.

I was taken to the psych ward several times so far - no chance of CTB where I stayed. Everything was secured (they even disassembled the shower heads so you couldn't hang yourself etc.), night patrols...
They also took my mobile phone. Did you smuggle it in there?
The best strategy is to just play along and try to get out there asap. Everything else would be very risky and may extend your stay. Don't sign anything of course, otherwise they may keep you in there for much longer.

I was in. there's no way to do it hun :( in there.
They'll just put you on 1-1 observations. I'd advise taking the meds, because they'll keep you longer if you dont. It's so tough i know. I got out of hospital last week and had to do the same thing. Are you on a section 2 or 3?

You're in one of the most difficult situations to KTB unfortunately, so while I'm sure there are items around you that could take your life, the chance of being rescued is optimized in your location.

I would just tell them what they want to hear, and start preparing your method upon being released.

Ben is right, chances of being saved are very high and would again give them more reason to keep you longer

Hard.
But I was in high dependence with only 4 patients and 4 nurses - regular checks, they took everything away from us, everything was magnetic, no clothes in our rooms etc.
Yet another patient hung himself with his sheet. He died.
I tried it tying the end of sheet to the bathroom doorknob and then thrown over the other side partial suspension- it started working and a nurse walked in.
I was discharged the next morning as they said they could not keep me safe in hospital LOL.

Wow.... he must've been so so determined. You are right, people are successful sometimes. There's one that was shut down because so many hung in there. I think most psych wards have had at least 1 do it in there. So sad.
They did that to me once, discharged me because they couldn't keep me safe in there. So dumb.

But my advice to you is to act calm and compliment. Calmly state you don't want medication but don't scream and yell about it.
Don't act overly cheerful as they will think your manic or bipolar. Just be 'ok'

I think it will be very hard... They watch you and see you every x amount of minutes and its a much safer environment they even take shoelaces here lol.

Why do they do that? What's the point of keeping you from killing yourself? When you legit have a good reason to. Do they make money off of keeping suicidal people in there?

I have seen a patient jump off from the roof. But given you are in psych ward and are under constant watch. Being able to do it there seems next to impossible.

I've worked in a psychiatric hospital for over 2 years now. Very hard to CTB in one, especially if everything is anti-ligature, though not impossible. However, if it is like my facility, if you attempt to CTB they will put you on 1:1 observation and keep you there longer. Better to just stay calm until they can't justify you're being a threat to yourself.

I've been a patient myself a couple times at other facilities and there was really no way to attempt it. They had seriously put some thought into making those places suicide-resistant .

Oh my, I was in your shoes a couple of months ago. Inside the hospital I would say there is no chance. If you earn the right to go outside then maybe you could run off. Where in the UK are you?

Are you allowed your phone? I would play along and get out quicker. I wouldn't risk doing it in there. You will get caught and prolong the time in there

Monday? I always worried about being away for like 6 months! Maybe I don't need to panic so much then

It's a section 2, which means they can only hold me for 28 days, but as there is nothing wrong with me I should be out by Monday.

Sorry you are in that situation.
It is impossible to ctb on the ward due to their constant checks and lack of things to use.The most i managed was self harm by cutting which earned me an extra weeks stay.If you are under section ,I do believe they can make you take Meds so i would just comply until Monday as it's not long then you can do as you wish after Monday.
I wish you luck and remember your actions have consequences in their which can be good or bad.THink carefully about what you say because they only have this and your behaviour to make an assessment of you.
I hope this helps and is what I have learnt after 2 admissions myself x
