i will never understand how people can look around and see all the hundreds of thousands of wars massacres rapes and other atrocities and think that this is an okay place to exist in - and, most of the time, an okay enough place to bring MORE PEOPLE INTO. it's not like this is just a bad time in history or something, either; the world has ALWAYS been like this and will continue to be exactly like this until some senile pedophile's dick length inevitably gets insulted one too many times and the nukes that our terrorist governments allowed to be invented (and still have ready access to!) get launched (either that, or some other catastrophe plays out).

am i just fucking stupid? is there something i'm missing?

You are not stupid.

Given how the world is progressing, we may see far more people falling down into depression, and possibly having suicidal thoughts. Sure, the world has always had its problems throughout the ages, but today, we are facing some dire circumstances that many people have not foreseen. Compare today to the oldendays, when people had farms and were self-sufficient, and you may see that the future may be bleak for many.

However, your question is how people are OK with this situation, and I believe that they are not, but they likely feel powerless to do anything about it.

this place is one big fucking sadistic joke, and i see people around me bragging about how they managed to suck enough of their bosses' dick and now they are in a bigger position in their company, early in the morning i see busses clogged up to the roof with slaves, traffic jams everywhere with lots of stress, envious people all around, people living on streets, this never-ending competition that is society... such a fucked up world!

look i don't really care if people find any kind of joy in playing this pathetic game, but i'm quitting this mess, i get so excited whenever I think I'm getting the fuck off really soon

The people who are seemingly OK with living in a world like this are not oblivious to the world's problems. They know what the world is. They realize that anything they might do isn't going to have more than the smallest effect on any of the world's problems. They realize they have only one life, and to make the most of it, they carve out their own little bubble of happiness in whatever way they can, and just try to avoid as many of the "bombs" of the world as possible. Some may call that selfish. I don't really see it that way. It's obvious that things are only getting worse, at least to me it is. All people can do is keep beating the "worst" back. It still gets through, though, and propagates more and more. I don't know. Do the math. One life to live. Too many problems to fix. Might as well make the most of what you got. It's sad. But, that's the reality of the situation.

I think that those people must be delusional. I do not understand how anyone could ever want to live in a world like this. Maybe they actually are suicidal but then they just pretend in front of others as suicide is so stigmatised after all. Existence is objectively so horrifying and there is just no point to any of this. Life is suffering for the sake of it and humans endure so much pain for no purpose. This is why the thought of non existence comforts me so much as death is freedom from the nightmare that is living.

I would quit my job, give away every last penny, and end every relationship to get my health back. I would live on the street and savor every minute of it. I would love life and the world and all its ugly warts. Never take health for granted, not even stuff you don't think could possibly be taken because it can.

I think it's very interesting how "animal friendly people" seldom have any problems with industrial meat production or cutting balls of their cats and dogs. it's definitely very friendly towards animals to do such things.

You guys are acting like people are just skipping through the streets acting like nothing is wrong. For one, there are definitely a decent amount of people that are financially more well off than others so they don't have such a focus on everything is bad. What do you guys expect everyone to do? Most of us can't do anything about the world but try and carve out of it any good that we can. Many people don't sit and focus on all the bad shit when there isn't a lot you can do, it only creates more sadness and depression. Some people try their hardest to try and look for the good and find the good in their reality.

And the hard truth is, there are many people that have done just this and are able to provide a lot more for their families and created an insulation from so much of the negative stuff. They stay in a bubble with family, friends, career, neighborhood, thus feeling confident to continue the cycle. Until things hit people personally, they're going to just continue on the same way.

I always hoped people would organise. In clubs, religious organisations, labour unions or political parties.

They think: this happens but somewhere else, this happens but not to me, this happens but not so much, this happens but it happens less, this happened but it won't happen again, and finally.. it won't ever happen to my family. Perhaps guesswork on my part, but I think that's the pattern of their thinking. Very stupid thinking..

Theres small groups at the top that run everything like the banks and stuff. Think of the Rothschild's, rockerfellers, even all the royal familys. Like who made these people own everything? Its fucked. We are just cogs at thenbottom keeping this shit running and paying crazy amounts of tax to keep them rich. When you realise you cant forget that its like how are people okay with that

This is a complicated topic for me to delve into since I live in a dictatorship we, the citizens, are doing nothing about even though everyone is painfully aware. Least we can do if we are gonna do nothing forever is to not procreate. Everywhere. This behaviour you've described is true, I was just writing I agree with you. But it's not cute and I don't agree with it, I'm tired of it. It's what got us into the situation we are in, that some of us were born into because "what am I gonna do im just a small person I'd rather focus on myself and my family". It breeds individuality in a bad way, passiveness, depression and cruelty. At least understand reality, understand you are coping this way, that your perception doesn't change the objective. At least.. don't make new people into this meat grinder. If it's so bad you have to numb yourself to it, feeling utterly hopeless and focusing inwards, hoping, becoming deluded that you are so special and your loved ones are special and nothing bad is gonna happen, ever. pray to god, constant anxious existence. Everyone here feels this, even rich people, I'm sure, they know they aren't the most powerful. its nothing I would want to pass down on anyone. Such questions are useless, course no one is gonna do anything different from the usual route of actions Humans take under this or that usual circumstance. I'm just saying, I hope it's not confusing. I don't expect anything from people other than that which they have already been doing, I get the psychology, really. If I expected rationality from people I would've been the one who found themselves to be the fool.

I agree with everything you said. And I am sure many people just feel hopeless and don't know how to build up a resistance to things. Especially when said resistance or rebellion is quickly squelched by said institutions and instigators that develop what we wish to fight. And yes, the individualism that keeps the cycle going, is the problem and also I feel by design as well. It is a deep critical problem because each problem in itself can be complicated.

The suppression itself is designed to keep people in this mind state, as is pitting the masses against each other so that we don't come together to fight the bigger problems. We could hyper analyze this problem all day but I agree with you.

I also see that given all of the chaos in the world, there are still a lot of people that are hopeful, hoping that new generations can create change, but that may be futile aswell. There are bigger powers at hand pushing things in directions to benefit themselves. Such a hard topic. It is hard to take away hope from people that are procreating in hopes of diluting the chaos of the world, but the procreation probably is playing into the hands of the people that want more cogs in the workforce that pushes the world. Deep topic here.

On the bright side, people as a whole are fighting back against the employer's that have been taking advantage against them in the US, on a massive scale. It shows that we can have an impact.

I've had this discussion/argument with people countless times. I'll never understand their way of thinking because to me suffering=bad but I can give you insight to the arguments some of them gave.

Unnecessary suffering is bad (to which I say being born is unnecessary suffering but they disagree) everyone suffers, it's part of the human condition and isn't inherently good or bad-it's also sometimes a learning tool. Suffering doesn't last forever and not everyone is suffering all the time or suffering so bad they wish they hadn't been born or want to die. To keep going over the suffering compounds it and just adds more suffering. Humans are built to survive and keep going through the bad times.

That's just a few of the things I can remember. I guess they'll "win" in the end and get to experience the suffering they downplay and I'll "lose" cos I'll have checked out of here. I didn't agree to suffer.
