Where I'm living won't allow the purchase of handguns with the background of mental issues or past hospitalizations. Is there a way to buy online somehow?

I was going to suggest the private sale loophole, but I looked it up and apparently NY still requires background checks even for private sales. Would it be possible to cross state lines, buy privately, and return? Obviously, that could get you in some shit if you were caught. I don't really have a better idea.

Do whatever you feel is best. Normally, I support having stricter gun laws. However, the one good thing about the lax gun laws in our country is that it gives many of us a quick and relatively certain death. If I recall, correctly there are actually more gun suicides than murders. I'd prefer to put a stop to the murders while keeping it as an avenue for suicide, but that may not be possible.
You can't buy online without having it shipped to a dealer, who will do the background check. (Unless you buy on darkweb)
Why not just go and try and buy a gun? It might not even come up in the background check, and if it does, well you haven't lost anything apart from you still don't have a gun.

I'm curious, what mental health conditions proclude one from having a gun? Unless you have a condition that makes you predisposed to violence, I don't see why you couldn't have a gun. In fact, it seems somewhat discriminatory to take that right away from somebody for something that is out of their hands.

Just from skimming this article re NY law, it looks like it might just be where an individual has been committed or had court ordered treatment.
I'm no expert in buying guns with mental health issues, as I've never been diagnosed with any kind of mental health issue. And I also don't live in NY.

yeah well I read somewhere that if you've been diagnosed with a mental illness and has been involuntary sent to a hospital then I probably won't pass a background check. I haven't done a lot of research about it honestly, I just wanted to see if there was other options first.
and really the reason isn't to have it for ctb ...… it's not a good reason for it at all honestly. It's going to make me sound insane if I tell anyone. I don't even know what i'm doing.
