If I don't get into a STEM course, my parents a thinking of kicking me out. They say I'll be on the streets and starve to death. The police also say I'll be living on a cardboard box.

The thing is my teachers say that my parents are bluffing and that a few of them were told the same thing by their parents to scare them.

I'm studying hard but buying methanol and stocking up on benzos and alcohol to prepare for the day they kick me out.
I'm 21 by the way.

I'm 25 and unemployed as of today (the job I just left was making me incredibly physically and mentally unwell). The pressure is now on from my parents to find a new job ASAP and honestly I'd like to just kill myself and avoid all that hassle.

I feel worthless and incapable of getting a good job - the last one was okay in terms of workload but the team were horrible and bitchy and I dreaded going in. My mum actually said she 'gave me permission' to quit my job as I'm still living under her roof for free. I'd love to move out but don't know how to do that when I'll have no regular income and most places require proof that you're gonna be able to pay rent each month.

It would be a million times easier to just die and be done with

IDK if your parents would really do that or not. But I do know some parents that have kicked out their kids. What I want to know is what is the reason for wanting to commit suicide?

I wouldn't find it easy to survive. I had to leave my studies because of mental health problems, and now I feel like I have no chance for the future. I have huge anxiety around jobs or whether to try to do another course. I just feel very exhausted and like I can't function on top of which I'm not ready to try to go back to study and will have to wait over a year to apply for a course now. The difference is my parents say it's okay for me to stay at home, but they're not the ones who are going to be questioned about "what have you been doing from this time to this time" when trying to work or do anything in the future. This is my main reason for being on this site.

Don't have a job. I live in the Republic of Ireland. Rent is HIGH for young people here, probably the highest in Western Europe.

If I got kicked out by my grandparents I'd be homeless and would just ctb at that point. As to whether or not your parents will actually boot you, it really depends on the parents themselves. Some of them really do it, others are just bluffing and would hate to see their children out on the street.

Would I go to a homeless shelter?
If not, then how are homeless people alive? Would they not starve without any jobs

I know it sounds crap, and yes i have been there & become homeless, but honestly there are far worse things in life, specially when you are young, and there is a lot more support out there to home you as a young vulnerable person than there was back in the 90's for me. So please if that is the reason any of you have for thinking the only way out is to bump yourselves off, it is not worth it, there is help & support (in the Uk i know for sure, can't imagine that Ireland would be that much different, you maybe will need to head for a city if you are out in the sticks)

In the uk if you are under 25 then there are charities that will help find you a place to stay, probably shared housing, but you will have a roof over your head.

I disagree. What if you don't want to work... you will be poor and homeless for the rest of your life. If you do work, you will only find shitty jobs for dumb people like me and you will want to kill yourself anyways. Without my parents it would be GAME OVER for me, no doubt about it. I still want to kill myself with my parents, but I can actually choose if I really want to do it or not.

My parents forced me to enroll in a STEM course and as result I keep skipping the exams. At the moment still not kicked out of house, lol.

@Letmego. Please How did you get out of that situation?

After a while of drinking the depression into oblivion i seriously ran out of money so found myself a crappy job, paying crappy wages, had to work for 6 wks while still being homeless to save up enough to rent a bedsit that then took over half my wages to pay every week.

Honestly if you take that attitude @deflagrat then i would be wasting my time saying anything other than grow up.

That's the only attitude I have. I can't "grow up" because life is not worth it. I exist because I have no responsabilities, PERIOD. If you take that away from me, my life becomes completely pointless (as I can't even feel emotions or meet my sexual needs). So killing yourself because you are poor makes perfect sense and it is my choice.

You live in the ROI? I am 100% positive there are solutions out there for people like you. Especially when you study.
