Brushed my teeth too hard and accidentally ripped open my gums and bruised myself. Now I can't chew hard food. I'm going to buy jugs of milk tomorrow and hope this wound heals. This is what I get for trying to speedrun my teeth brushing.

This is uncommon but definitely not unheard of. This is one reason why many dentists recommend using soft-bristle tooth brushes. There is decent evidence that soft-bristle brushes work just as well as medium-bristle or better anyway: https://www.zora.uzh.ch/id/eprint/234426/

If I were you, I would probably stick with soft or extra-soft bristle and incorporate floss if you have any residual material stuck in your teeth.
