i used to use kitchen knives but i could barely cut deep enough to see blood, is there any household items that could be used to cut easier? i have disposable shaving razors i dont know how to take apart and i could probably find a pencil sharpener but i would like something better

I'm sorry to hear you're suffering to the point you want to self harm. If you ever have desire to stop cutting we can try to help with that. I would use a scalpel not kitchen or bathroom stuff. They can be purchase online easily, and they will work better, scar less, and can be kept cleaner.

Bless you, may I ask what it is about cutting that brings your release.
For me, I need to bleed. For some it's the pain so the well-known techniques of holding ice cubes/snapping elastic bands workfor them.

Problem is, you think you have some level of control over the habit but you will lose that. Over time, I've gone deeper, and cut all over my body - and I hate it.
I won't tell you to stop, but I think the aforementioned idea of a scalpel is a good one that I may look into myself. I currently pull apart disposable razors, but they're generally not that sharp and they don't heal very tidy! I get a lot of heamatomas from the blades being too blunt also and it's more effort to take care of.

Try holding ice or snapping a rubber band on your wrist, there are things that cause the distracting pain without the long term damage

I buy razor blades loose online, that way there is no messing around trying to break a blade out a disposable razor or a pencil sharpener. They are super sharp and cut very cleanly. As someone else said, a scalpel is also another good item for self harming.
But there are other methods that aren't so violent as cutting. I know it's good to feel the release, I've been a self harmer for 16 years now, but as someone else suggested, maybe try ice, snapping bands on your wrist, submerging your face in ice cold water etc.

I use a very sharp cutter that I found in stationery, the only problem is that the scars are very thick and therefore clearly visible.

There's a prominent suicidologist whose father stabbed himself to death. I once lightly electrocuted myself once with a hairdryer without serious damage. I don't know if the hairdryer was faulty or if I held it with wet hands. It was an accident rather than attempted suicide. I think that's where you get the idea of people electrocuting themselves in bathtubs with hairdryers attached to their leads.

I just buy razors after work, they are easy to hide. I also used to pick my toe nails till they bled, or lick my lips and put my charger on them.

I don't do it often at all, I used to cut but now I use a lighter on the metal end of a screwdriver and burn myself.
It probably isn't sanitary, but it's more sanitary than the razors I was using.

Ah, a fellow burner.

I used to light a match and hold it against my arm until it went out. Also when I smoked cigs I would put them out on my self. Best/worst part about burns is they last a long time and leave nasty scars. While they're healing you can slap them or pick at them to inflect more pain.

Burns feel filthy in a way that was satisfying to me. I don't obtain any pleasure from self harming anymore though.

I only do it when I'm at my lowest, since I have no reliable way to ctb right now. It's kind of an impulse.
I don't think my burns were as bad as yours, some are bad and develop blisters and take weeks to fully heal though.
Cutting just grossed me out because of the disgusting razors I'd use, plus they were extremely dull so I'd have to go over the same cut a few times.
