Anyone know if you can get rid of SI? Or at least if there's a way to train/reduce it so it isn't as extreme? SI always gets in the way of things and it's really annoying.

It's in built human instincts. Some people have much stronger SI compared to others.

Usually lessens with desperation and substances like alcohol, drugs...

It certainly is like the survival instinct exists just to prolong suffering and keep us trapped here in this horrible existence, I imagine that many of those who succeeded in ctb found a method that they felt confident in and they just got so determined to leave which meant that they were able to free themselves, I really admire those people.

Alcohol maybe. If you think about the kind of people without SI...the violent criminal element that just goes and gets killed at the drop of a hat. People who don't seem to think two steps ahead and act on impulse. Alcohol seems to enable that mentality to one degree or another.

I think SI is a good thing, it'll desperately keep looking for options to solve your situation which I think is a fair thing, to be presented with the options you have.
If there really is no way for you anymore then I think it's easier to overcome SI.
Or in other words, I wouldn't worry that much about SI, if you're determined to ctb, it might do some nasty things to you but ultimately you should be able to go still go through with it.

Ketamine, maybe? It is a paralytic. This would be better with assisted suicide though, as it could cause paralysis that could prevent taking the next steps in the process. Maybe consuming it orally, with a beverage would slow the absorption rate enough. But, again, it would have to be timed very carefully to be useful and practical.

Another thought that comes to mind is that a lot of the methods that seem to be of the highest esteem in this forum also seem to be effective enough that they might also be paralytic due to their heavily sedative qualities: N, inert gas, and SN. This is all just educated conjecture though. Feedback from smarter folk than I is most welcome to further my musings.
