I don't necessarily believe NDE. I think they're tied to your own beliefs and happen because your brain can do some wacky stuff when you're close to death. Before my grandpa passed, I assume his kidneys stopped functioning, as he became completely delirious. He believed he was in someone else's house, didn't really recognize his own family, etc.

My friend had one his heart stopped not sure for how long. He said he went to some other dimension where there was no pain and he met with random spirits who told him it wasnt his time and he had to go back to help people he also had a life review. He seems pretty humble from it and now feels hes back here to help people

I met a guy who'd had one.

He didn't tell the whole experience though. He just said that after he left his body he felt a joy that was 100x greater than anything he'd ever felt on Earth. That seemed pretty reassuring to me at least.

True. There are people that have negative ones. But from what I've read/researched, a lot more NDE's are positive. (One source I remember put the "negative" percentage at around 14%.)

But of course I don't know how to interpret that or what it means exactly for life after death.

Yes, plenty. They are very alarming to say the least, and have too many similarities across the board to be dismissed, as many do

I'm also interested in NDEs, but honestly it is hard to make sense of these experiences. A quick google search shows that only 5 to 10 percent of the general population is estimated to have memories of an NDE, it's more common in cardiac arrest survivors, somewhere between 10 and 23 percent. But what about the 90-77% of people that didn't experience/remember anything?
Usually the experiences varies from person to person and is highly subjective. As far as I know, no one who has had an NDE has returned to life with any reliable information, such as a clear prediction of the future. If NDEs are real then why are there no NDEs with accurate information regarding the reality we're living in, yet many NDEs claim to have enhanced knowledge from their NDE?

I am in no way denying the reality of NDEs, NDEs are a real phenomenon that is actually being scientifically studied. But I don't know how to interpret people's subjective, rare experiences and what it can tell us about the nature of consciousness and life after death

meh, think they're intriguing reads but nothing more. Personally dont think they show us anything abt the afterlife, but just how complex and weird our brains are.

Been near death twice in my lifetime, once after a head injury, I could hear everything that was going on around me and what ER personnel where actually saying, three days in a coma hearing things like, this guy is not gonna make it, he's urinating again, my wife crying and praying for me, the nurse talking on her phone telling someone about me, the television, seems old Bonanza reruns where constantly on,
Couldn't move, open my eyes or speak, just waves of fear running through me for days.

i read of very hellish NDEs (happens rarely or people are reluctant to share) they scared me. i do believe in god but i don't believe in NDEs as an afterlife experience. i just think it's something that happens in the brain.

Hallucinations are different from Ndes.

I had an TBI as infant. And ever since, I had NDE in my dreams (shock, heightened awareness, narrowed vision, euphoria and the willingness to let go. Never experienced such joy and peace ever. So I'm kinda convinced, but it could also be coincidence.

What happens when you die in your dreams (NDE survivors and non NDE folks)?

I think they are true but tailored to your level of understanding.

Say you're a really ignorant person (not in a bad/offensive way, just ignorant, that's all), but very religious.

Maybe you will see Jesus or something when you die, or the Buddha (what they look like for you in your mind).

Perhaps if you are a new ager you see more cool stuff like fractals and geometric patterns, maybe you see things that astonish you or something.

The experience will be tailored to your level of understanding but never the absolute truth, not until you go further, I think.

Although some people seem to get the more truthful experience, but maybe they didn't have many expectations or something else...

So maybe we are all just lights who decide to take on a form or maybe we are literally just consciousness with no form whatsoever.

But because that is literally inconceivable for many, you will see things consistent to your earthly beliefs.


If you see yourself as a person, you will see what is the divine or God to you. But God is not a person, it is love or positive energy, so you will see that too.

The experience might be more experienced through positive feelings impossible (at least for many of us) to experience on this world.

So strong many would perfer not to come back but they still do because of their family.

So, what is beautiful to you, you will see that, at first, until it becomes more "truthful" (not like anyone is trying to deceive us or anything, but it's a gradual transition, not a sudden one).

The best description that I've seen is that people say is like going back home, after a long trip/vacation.
