I'm pretty sure I won a coconut once. I wanted a go on the Hoopla once but my Dad told me it was fixed and impossible to win. I must have kept nagging till he relented and I won a toy truck. Lol.

A family friend once promised me he'd win me a toy rabbit. He ended up probably spending three times what it was worth trying. Then, finally slipped the guys some money to just buy one!

I love fairgrounds though. I always loved those shooting galleries with the laser targets- where stuff happened when you hit them. The cuckoo clock sprang open, the person rocked in their chair. The skunk turned around and squirted water. There was a water jet one once. Medieval themed with knights jousting etc.

Do you have a fairground, fair or arcade favourite?

Back in 2020 I won a goldfish fish I called paprika. Had him for a few years before he died of kidney failure.

That's a good name for a goldfish. Thankfully, I think they're stricter about it all now. I'm guessing they provided a basic tank at least? Back in the day, the poor things were just strung up in plastic bags.

Depends the country, sadly where I am they still hand them out in plastic bags.... Legalisations around fish wellbeing is absolutely not taken seriously. Goldfish can live up to 20 years of taken care of properly and raised in a right environment.
I had paprika in a massive 120L tank I got second hand and lots of aquatic plants for him to hide and swim around while he was healthy.

Woah a coconut is unreal!! I liked the shooting tag too. I can't remember anything from fairs anymore besides catching plastic fish and treasures in a pool with a magnet fishing rod - that one was my favourite. Every time we would go to the fair (probably once a year, for winter holidays) we would go there and I'll spend solid 20 minutes on that one game. But no, I have never won anything at any game. Also at the claw machines, literally never. I had a feeling they were rigged as a child because it just looked way too unrealistic.

Most of them are rigged I think. Or, designed to only win a small amount of times. Arr, that's cute. I had a magnetic fish child's game. I didn't win much at that either!

A top prize in a shooting game once! I really locked in and got my nephew a giant stuffed mushroom from the Mario games.

For some reason when I was 10 I had an insane dart throwing skill. I played the balloon game where they hand you three darts and you pop the different colored balloons for points or something (I can not remember exactly how it went). I could barely see over the counter but I could hit the grand-prize balloon if I wanted. Lost the ability once I hit puberty for some reason.
