Have you ever been given a psych medication that truly helped you?

I've only been on two prozac and wellbutrin. Wellbutrin kind of helped, but it wasn't much of a noticeable difference.
I think shrooms were the most effective at treating my depression. It's like a mental reset button.

Lorazepam helped me but as it's a Benzodiazepine it's addictive and my psychiatrist won't prescribe it to me anymore. It does a great job in terms of taking away the anxiety but the sedated feeling is a problem in everyday life.
Wellbutrin showed a little effect but I dropped it off because this drug is dangerous. I wouldn't touch it anymore...

Both Prozac and Wellbutrin can cause anxiety, tremors, sleep issues, sexual issues

Magic mushrooms of course are psychedelic so it can be intense in higher doses. It has the possibility to cause temporary psychosis but it's relatively safe. I'd suggest reading about it if you really want to know more. It may not be for eveyone but it's been commonly used in research studies to help with depression.

SSRIs put me in a state of lessened awareness unable to experience deep sadness or happiness & the side effects were awful.

Wellbutrin didn't do much for me.

Klonopin I liked but only because it made me druggy/ not care about anything. Still had same negative outlook, depression and suicidal thoughts. Could smile though the day. Stops working very quickly unless you keep increasing the dose.

Some? Zoloft makes my "lows" of my bipolar 2 more tolerable...my epilepsy medication keeps me from going into hypomania (2 birds, 1 med! Well, actually 2 meds so wtf ever lol), I take klonopin also for my epilepsy but it helps with anxiety (I keep some in my bag for when I have terrible anxiety in the day) and I take it at night so I guess it helps with insomnia? I also take Thorazine which helps immensely in that I can SLEEP when I'm on it. I don't sleep when I don't take it, I simply can't.

I also take two opioids to try and stay on top of my pain but they don't work very well..or rather, they DO at their highest possible dose per day taken together...for a few hours. *sigh* And 2 muscle relaxers which I'm not supposed to take together but I usually take the highest daily dose together of them together with the painkillers and try to get a little "break" from the pain. And as I said I take 2 epilepsy meds (which double as my bipolar meds) which KINDA help with the seizures? I mean, I don't get as many. But lately I've had a couple in my sleep (keep waking up super drowsy/confused, bitten tongue, anyone with epilepsy knows the drill).

I've taken a lot of benzos and anti-d's in the past. The best benzo imo was xanax but I was eventually on like 10mg a day (!!!) and then in a psych hospital they took me off it COLD TURKEY (good god I wanted to die then) and switched me to klonopin which I have been on ever since. But it worked a lot faster. My favourite anti-d was wellbutrin but I can't take that anymore because it lowers the seizure threshold which with epilepsy is no bueno.

No medication worked for me, I had ECT and it helped me but also made me have twitching and I think I wouldn't do it again
