How did you fail?I tried to hang myself twice, once when I was only eleven. It wasn't even planned, I tend to harm myself with an impulse. I failed twice and tbh I'll never try it again. I would be too scared of another failure.
How did you fail?
How did you fail?Back in my twenties I tried to partial suspension twice, and failed. Last month I was practicing for another attempt, and only managed to get the "exploding head" sensation.
what made you fail at full? did you just not wait long enough and back out or could you just not get it to work no matter how long?I have tried full and partial.
For full, beyond the knot (slip) I did no research whatsoever. I couldn't be arsed to read more on it (and I still can't be) so I don't know if it was just my experience but it hurt LIKE HELL. Not doing that again.
That led me to partial which is significantly less discomforting (although still not ideal).
For both I tried to combine hanging with sedatives and either should have worked but both times my intellectually compromised mind did 1 thing wrong so they failed.
I'm open to trying again but for absolutely no good reason, I lean towards not trying a method twice.
Which leads me to my next, last hope: tourniquet method.
Holy shit why didn't my stupid ass not try this before? Set up the tourniquet as close to the jaw as possible (above where the adam's apple is) and twisted away.
I'm not sure why It's not a guarantee every time but 2 of 3 times, within 10 seconds after twisting about 4-6 times I started rapidly losing consciousness.
Because of the speed of the impending unconsciousness, in the beginning it's fear inducing.
From hanging, one is fearful mainly because of the pain.
From this...physically you just feel very tight (obviously) around the throat but for the most part it isn't full suspension hanging painful and the head feels heavy. The eardrums are more sensitive (if I'm recalling correctly) and you can hear (feel?) your heart beat.
*edit as Schopenhauer says below, I think the sensation is best described as "exploding head sensation" but tamer. I think it might be because a partial is hitting the carotid from "down up" while the tourniquet is hitting from the sides
Wasn't expecting something so quick and rather than elation, that annoying self-preservation instinct kicked in the form of mild panic.
No problem: more practice it is then.
Sedatives this time as well.
Will learn from last time too: after I applied the last twist I will quickly handcuff myself in case instinct kicks in to undo the tourniquet when I'm past conscious awareness.

how long did you try while doing full before you saved yourself? do you think if you would've waited a little while that it would've worked or would it have taken too long?Yes. With partial, I managed to one time get my vision blurry, but couldn't pass out. The other times, I didn't get anything. Then I tried full on a pull up bar on a door. Couldn't compress my carotid arteries despite using a non-stretch rope and slip knot. I couldn't tolerate slowly suffocating, so I "saved" myself. But I'm also unusual. Most people can pass out with full.

10 times???
Are you getting any closer?
was it full suspension?I tried to hang myself twice, once when I was only eleven. It wasn't even planned, I tend to harm myself with an impulse. I failed twice and tbh I'll never try it again. I would be too scared of another failure.
Once about sixteen years ago, used cable from the loft. Wasn't a good feeling and survival instinct was overpowering. Wouldn't try it again .
